The ideal candidate will be able to work from August 14, 2026 to May 05, 2027. The candidate will be able to work 10-15 hours a week with possible night and weekend events.
Job Summary
The Stuckert Career Center is seeking an Event & Engagement Intern for the academic year of 2026-2027. The intern will have the opportunity to create the voice of the Stuckert Career Center through research, storytelling, public speaking, and customer and patron relationship management, while gaining an understanding of student career development at the University of Kentucky.
As part of the Stuckert Career Center team, the intern will gain valuable, practical skills through the support of career events, campus community hospitality, and career center support. This internship is overseen and guided by the Assistant Director for Experiential Education and all activities are informed by principles and practices of exemplary customer service and hospitality.

Responsibilities
The Event & Engagement will gain valuable experience in a wide variety of activities including:
  • Will help to generate, manage, edit, and layout content for storytelling and event planning.
  • Conduct research on current trends with career development.
  • Serve as a representative for the Stuckert Career Center at career related events, talking to current students, potential students, alumni and employers.
  • Help organize and take inventory of materials.
  • Desk operations that include serving as the first point of contact for students, staff, and guests, checking students in, answering the phone, processing emails, routing questions, providing resources, running errands, filing, general office tasks, and assisting staff with projects.
  • Other duties may be assigned to ensure the overall success of the Stuckert Career Center.

Through this internship, the intern will have the ability to further develop these job skills as well as learn new ones. The Intern must be open to receiving feedback and guidance throughout the course of their internship. On-the-job training and hands-on experience working with the organization's staff in a professional, supportive environment.
Required August all student staff training (Sunday before First Day of Class).
Required January all student staff training (Sunday before First Day of Class).
Bi-Weekly all student staff meetings.
Weekly one on one supervisor meetings.
Technology and career related trainings.
Career development assistance.
Special Project Assignment
College credit may be obtained by reviewing the experience with your academic advisor. This position is open for Federal Work-Study eligible students.

The ideal candidate will be able to work from August 14, 2026 to May 05, 2027 and will demonstrate the following skills, abilities, or knowledge:
  • Has knowledge of the Stuckert Career Center services and resources such as Handshake, biginterview, Iris Photo Booth, and Focus 2 Career.
  • Has a passion for storytelling (through any medium: writing, video, photography, event planning, etc..)
  • Has knowledge of LinkedIn, Wildcat Network, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and Tik Tok platforms.
  • Has experience with Canva, Imovie, Cap Cut, Sprout Social, Mac OSX and Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint .
  • Has experience with Cannon cameras, iPads, and PC computers.
  • Has sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, and flexibility with different personalities and working styles.
  • Has an attention to detail, strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
  • Has strong organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Has positive energy and a willingness to pitch in and be a team player wherever needed.
  • Ability to think quickly on their feet, be flexible, creative, forward thinking, and adaptable to their situations.
  • Ability to think creatively to solve last-minute challenges.
  • Ability to work independently but integrate with a larger, cohesive team.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
