POSITION SUMMARY

Herschend Family Entertainment is seeking an Application Developer to join the existing team in our Atlanta office. The Application Developer is responsible for the development, unit testing, configuration, deployment, and support of Herschend Family Entertainment applications. Herschend considers technology an integral part of its business operations, the overall guest and employee experience, and a key factor in enabling and supporting future growth initiatives. This position will help improve employee and guest experiences, increase business effectiveness, and enhance the ability to scale and expand the HFE group of operating properties. The Application Developer will interact extensively with Technology Solutions Group members, other HFE team members, and external stakeholders, including vendors, trade associations, and other technology organizations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain secure coding standards in developed applications.
  • Develop and maintain databases utilizing Microsoft SQL Server technologies.
  • Support and troubleshoot Herschend Family Entertainment applications and integrations.
  • Collaborate on project teams comprised of HFE team members and other stakeholders to develop and maintain technology solutions that support current and future business needs.
  • Maintain current technical subject matter expertise and knowledge by reviewing professional publications and completing advanced training programs.
  • As part of the Application Development team and the broader Technology Solutions Group team, occasionally provide after-hours support of business systems.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 0-5 years of experience developing applications using the Microsoft .NET Framework, particularly C#.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly at all times.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with corporate, property, vendor, and other stakeholders.
  • Proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team and to make informed decisions in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and multitask.
  • Strong interest in theme park and hospitality technology applications.
  • Flexibility and the ability to manage changing priorities and business seasonality.
  • Self-starter and team player with excellent analytical skills and a strong interest in the guest experience.
  • Friendly, positive attitude and a commitment to advancing technology initiatives, even when doing so is not popular or easy.
  • Solid problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Travel anticipated at approximately 5%.
  • After-hours and weekend support as needed.
  • Preferred: Angular experience or experience with a similar single-page application framework.
  • Preferred: Proficiency developing and consuming REST-based APIs using ASP.NET and C#.
  • Preferred: Experience with object-relational mappers such as Entity Framework.
  • Preferred: Experience translating conceptual business requirements into application code.
  • Preferred: Experience using Git for source code management.
  • Preferred: Experience using Azure DevOps for project and defect management and application deployment.
