Job Description

Veolia Water Tech is a worldwide leader in water recovery, treatment and reuse. We design and supply a range of water and biosolids treatment systems, from food and beverage applications, to municipal water, to microelectronics ultrapure water and heavy industrial wastewater treatment.

Veolia is seeking a Senior Application Engineer (AE) to join our MicroElectronics Applications Engineering Team in North America (NORAM). This position requires a blend of advanced technical knowledge, strong customer relationship skills, and proven project leadership abilities. 

As an Application Engineer, you are the primary technical point of contact for our clients.  The ideal candidate will lead the design of process equipment featured in MicroElectronics flowsheets, with a particular focus on Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).  Collaborating with Sales and Process Engineering teams, the Senior Application Engineer will create competitive water treatment solutions for clients facing complex technical or regulatory challenges. In partnership with a global, cross-functional team spanning multiple time zones, you will manage the entire bid process-from initial lead qualification and system design through cost estimation, securing internal approvals for large-scale projects, and ultimately achieving contract execution and transition to the execution team

The Senior Application Engineer will be responsible for supporting and driving a winning and executable solution throughout the sales cycle, from lead qualification to contract signature and project handover. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess new opportunities, help formulate winning strategies by collaborating in partnership with the sales team, organize required resources and maintain a schedule of deliverables for bid preparation and submission.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with the sales team
  • Analyze and understand customer business requirements and tailor Veolia's value propositions, cost structures and process designs to optimize competitive positioning
  • Review technical/commercial specifications and customer documentation, providing comments, clarifications and exceptions where necessary
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineering Team to understand, support and finalize the design of various flowsheet processes to solve water treatment problems for our Customers that aligns with bid strategies
  • Developing P&IDs and any other drawings/documents required for proposal submissions and engaging support teams as needed
  • Prepare proposal content and supporting documents that effectively communicate the advantages of Veolia's solutions
  • Generate cost estimates for proposals, partnering with Sourcing or Estimation Teams to obtain equipment quotes and finalize costing
  • lead and participate in all proposal development meetings and reviews
  • Assisting other members of the application engineering team with document publishing/formatting as needed
  • Establish project timelines and prioritize tasks for yourself and team members while meeting or exceeding deadlines and quality expectations
  • Follow all internal procedures for bid development, proposal tracking, order transfers and forecasting
Qualifications

Core requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering field - Chemical or Mechanical preferred
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal)

Relevant Competencies and Capabilities:

  • At least five (5) years of  experience in chemical/mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Experience with industrial or municipal water treatment preferred specifically on Thermal systems (ZLD)
  • Proven expertise in developing bids and proposals, with strong capability to analyze and understand bid specifications from both technical and commercial perspective, particularly contractual terms and conditions.
  • Proven track record of customer-facing technical sales or engineering roles
  • Impeccable organization and time management
  • Clear, concise communication and presentation skills
  • Team player, with the ability to exercise good judgement under changing conditions
  • French language skills may be useful
  • The role requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time

  • Compensation: The compensation range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $95,000.00-$110,000.00 CAD annually.
