Job description

Electrical Design Engineer I
The Electrical Design Engineer I within our Production Engineering team is responsible for designing customer specified custom switchgear products to our G&W's quality standard. This position will specialize in our entire catalog of overhead and underground switchgear products. G&W is excited to engage a self-motivated and results-oriented individual to join our fast-paced, collaborative work environment that offers consistent learning opportunities and problem-solving experience.
As an Electrical Design Engineer I you will:
  • Design to order per customer provided specification within a team environment
  • Provide design competency to industry standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, ANSI, UL, NEMA, etc.)
  • Design products to internal engineering design standards and best practices within customer lead time and quality expectations
  • Coach, maintain and assist technical aptitude among design team members
  • Be a change agent in department and company by identifying and resolving root causes through problem solving activities
  • Provide technical support for internal and external customers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support and provide technical aptitude for company and departmental projects as needed (e.g. Product Development, Aftermarket Support, Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing)

We are looking for someone who:
  • Holds a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or Relevant Discipline
  • Has Schematics Design Experience
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills and has demonstrated presentation skills to diverse audiences
  • Has strong analytical design and quantitative problem-solving skills

Ideally you will also have experience with:
  • CREO CAD Software experience
  • Experience with Protection relays
  • Experience with Programming Languages
  • Leadership and Training
  • Change Management experience
  • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Root Cause Analysis / Problem-Solving strategies
  • ISO Certified Manufacturing Environment experience
  • Reliability Design Tools
    • Design For Manufacturability (DFM), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Experience with Oracle J.D. Edwards Business System
  • Experience with Industry Standards
  • Related power distribution experience

Typical pay is $63,550 - 82,513 annually.
