Enterprise applications depend on reliable ingress, load balancing, DNS, certi๏ฌcates, routing, and edge connectivity services. These platforms require consistent operational support, careful change execution, monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and lifecycle management to maintain service availability and performance.

The Staff Internet Ingress & Edge Engineer supports day-to-day platform operations while developing proficiency across cloud networking, application delivery, traffic management, certificate services, automation, and production support. The role works with senior engineers, managers, application teams, cloud teams, network teams, security teams, and vendors to execute defined operational tasks and resolve service issues.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an Internet Ingress & Edge Engineer at the staff level to support enterprise application delivery and ingress operations across AWS, AVI, Azure, DNS, certificate, routing, and edge security technologies.

The role assists with monitoring, troubleshooting, application onboarding, configuration changes, maintenance, documentation, incident response, and lifecycle activities. The engineer follows established standards and runbooks, escalates complex issues appropriately, and builds the technical depth needed to assume greater platform ownership over time.

Role positioning:

This is a handsโ€‘on operational engineering role with a defined development path. The staff engineer performs independently within documented procedures and change controls while partnering with senior engineers on complex troubleshooting, design decisions, automation, and high-risk changes.

Your Key Responsibilities Operational Support and Monitoring
  • Monitor ingress and edge platform health, availability, alerts, capacity, and service performance.
  • Perform initial triage of application connectivity, load balancing, DNS, certificate, routing, and traffic delivery issues.
  • Follow runbooks to collect evidence, validate service health, and escalates complex or highโ€‘impact issues.
  • Participate in incident response, problem investigation, scheduled maintenance, and onโ€‘call support as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate ticket updates, technical notes, and operational records.
Load Balancing and Ingress Platform Support
  • Support AWS ALB/NLB, AVI load balancers, Azure ingress services, and related cloud platform components.
  • Assist with listeners, target groups or pools, health checks, certificates, traffic policies, persistence, and failover configurations.
  • Execute approved configuration changes and validate outcomes under established change controls.
  • Support upgrades, maintenance, configuration reviews, and lifecycle activities.
  • Identify configuration drift or platform issues and coordinate remediation with senior engineers.
Application Onboarding and Traffic Management
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding, migration, and release activities for applications, URLs, domains, APIs, and services.
  • Gather and validate DNS, certificate, routing, load balancing, dependency, monitoring, and support requirements.
  • Support configuration, testing, rollback preparation, and postโ€‘change validation.
  • Coordinate with application owners and dependent teams to resolve missing information or implementation issues.
  • Update application delivery records, diagrams, inventories, and support documentation.
DNS, Certificates, and Edge Security Support
  • Support DNS record changes, resolution troubleshooting, and traffic management activities.
  • Assist with SSL/TLS certificate requests, installation, renewal, expiration tracking, and troubleshooting.
  • Support AWS Shield and related edge security controls using approved procedures.
  • Escalate DDoS, certificate, security, or availability events according to documented response paths.
  • Maintain awareness of approved security standards and configuration requirements.
Automation and Documentation
  • Use approved Terraform modules and Gitโ€‘based workflows to support repeatable configuration activities.
  • Assist with testing, peer review, validation, and documentation of Infrastructureโ€‘asโ€‘Code changes.
  • Contribute to runbooks, knowledge articles, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
  • Identify repetitive tasks or common issues that may benefit from automation or standardization.
  • Participate in lessonsโ€‘learned and continuous improvement activities.
To qualify for the role you must have
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in networking, cloud operations, load balancing, application delivery, infrastructure support, or a related technical role.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, routing, Layer 4 and Layer 7 concepts, and highโ€‘availability fundamentals.
  • Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure or application connectivity issues using documented operational processes.
  • Ability to follow change controls, runbooks, escalation procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Strong learning agility, communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and problemโ€‘solving skills.
Ideally, you will have
  • Exposure to AWS ALB/NLB, AWS networking, AVI/NSX Advanced Load Balancer, Azure Application Gateway, Azure Front Door, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with DNS administration, SSL/TLS certificates, health checks, routing, or traffic management.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, Git, APIs, scripting, or Infrastructureโ€‘asโ€‘Code concepts.
  • Experience in an enterprise operations center, network operations, cloud operations, or application support environment.
  • Relevant foundational certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, Network+, Security+, CCNA, Terraform Associate, or ITIL Foundation.

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $82,500 to $136,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $99,100 to $145,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
