Job description

Job Summary 

Anakeesta is hiring an AV Technician to join our growing team in the Smoky Mountains. This position is responsible for the ongoing operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the park’s lighting, audio, and video systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge and a passion for creating immersive experiences for guests through sound, lighting, and visual effects. 

Your Responsibilities 

  • Maintain and repair lighting, audio, and video equipment throughout the park 

  • Perform routine maintenance on AV systems and related components 

  • Adjust and reprogram lighting and audio systems for seasonal events and holidays 

  • Manage daily lighting and audio system schedules 

  • Install, repair, and terminate CAT5/6 cabling for lighting, audio, and video systems 

  • Conduct daily system audits to ensure full functionality and safety 

  • Keep all workspaces organized, safe, and clean 

  • Maintain detailed logs of repairs, system updates, and inventory needs 

  • Assist other departments with technical needs as assigned 

  • Operate company vehicles to transport equipment and supplies 

  • Create and maintain inventory and maintenance reports 

  • Good knowledge of indoor and outdoor technical theater equipment, installation, and operation. 

  • Ability to operate, program, and troubleshoot technical equipment. 

  • Must have experience and solid understanding of DMX cabling, setup, and troubleshooting. 

  • Must have experience and be comfortable operating various Lighting Programs, Audio Systems and Consoles. 

  • Working knowledge of basic networking equipment and application/configuration preferred. 

  • Experience with SMPTE timecode preferred. 

  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of modern Lighting, Audio and Video technologies and techniques. 

  • Must be able to operate Lighting, Audio and Video systems in a safe manner. 

  • Test, repair, and clean moving lights and audio equipment 

  • Ability to solder and do light PCB repair preferred. 

  • Good working knowledge and understanding of electricity. 

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools such as voltmeters, soldering pencils and guns, clamp on digital multimeters, hand drills, electric saws, hammers, screw guns, wrenches, pliers, boom lifts, scissor lifts, ladders, etc. 

  • Reading, writing, and math skills necessary to: Label equipment, control systems, cables, etc. 

  • Understand related schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturer manuals. 

  • Ability to think clearly and react quickly and calmly to changes and/or emergency situations. 

  • Able to hear, see, speak, and write English. 

  • Must have required technical capacity and strong problem analysis/solving ability. 

  • Working knowledge of basic networking equipment and application/configuration preferred 

  • Available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays 

Physical Requirements 

  • Able to lift 50 lbs.; can push, pull, grasp, lift, kneel, stoop, climb, balance, crouch, crawl and stand for long periods of time. 

  • Able to work in all weather conditions. 

  •  Must be able to communicate and exchange information in loud environments. 

  •  Must be able to work comfortably in high positions up to 80 feet off the ground. 

  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. 

  • Must be able to safely lift, carry, and move materials independently and with team assistance when necessary. 

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, grasping, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching overhead. 

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven surfaces and stairs. 

  • Ability to safely handle heavy, bulky, or awkward items using proper lifting techniques and assistance as needed. 

  • Capable of working in a physically demanding environment with frequent movement and manual labor activities.
