Intern - Construction Management / Civil Engineering / Environmental Science
Location: Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, San Francisco, CA (On-Site, Project Job Trailer)
ECC is seeking a motivated junior, senior, or graduate student (minimum 3.0 GPA) pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science to join our team at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard project site. This on-site internship offers hands-on experience supporting field operations, environmental monitoring, and project management activities on a large-scale demolition and site restoration project.
Position Details:
  • Duration: Flexible start between February 2026 - July 2027
  • Hours: Flexible, part-time or full-time options available
  • Compensation: $20-$25/hour (commensurate with experience)
  • Reporting to: Project Manager (with potential rotation under Site Supervisor, QC Manager, or Assistant Project Manager)
  • Local candidates

Learning Opportunities:
Interns will gain exposure to building demolition, hazardous materials abatement, large-scale trucking logistics, environmental monitoring, and site restoration paving. Participants will rotate through multiple project roles, receiving mentorship from experienced professionals and developing a well-rounded understanding of environmental construction management.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist field staff with air monitoring, BMP maintenance, truck coordination, and subcontractor oversight
  • Conduct and assist with analysis of field and laboratory data sets
  • Attend weekly client meetings and prepare detailed meeting minutes
  • Support preparation of backup documentation for invoicing
  • May complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response)

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, Power BI) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a field-based project environment

ECC targeted hourly rate for Hunter's Point location is $20.00 to $25.00. Pay rate offered may be affected by education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
