Position Summary
The Desktop Support Technician provides technical support and troubleshooting services for district staff technology devices and related systems. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and supporting Windows and Apple computers, peripherals, software applications, printers, and related technology used throughout the district.
The Desktop Support Technician works directly with staff to resolve technology issues in a timely, professional, and customer-service-oriented manner to minimize disruptions to teaching, learning, and district operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Support
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for district staff computers and related technology equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, printing, and account-related issues.
  • Support both Windows and Apple operating systems and devices.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and update desktop and laptop computers.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Set up and deploy computers, monitors, docking stations, printers, and related peripherals.
  • Assist staff with technology-related questions and operational issues.

Device & Systems Support
  • Assist with imaging, deployment, inventory, and lifecycle management of district technology devices.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment assignments, repairs, and replacements.
  • Assist with software installations, updates, and user account support as directed.
  • Ensure devices comply with district technology and cybersecurity standards.
  • Assist with troubleshooting network connectivity and related technology issues.

Customer Service & Communication
  • Respond to technology support requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple support requests across district buildings.
  • Work collaboratively with district administrators, teachers, and support staff.
  • Maintain a positive, service-oriented approach when assisting staff.

Operational Support
  • Assist with technology setup for meetings, presentations, testing, and special events.
  • Support district technology initiatives and summer deployment projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality of district data and student/staff information.
  • Follow all district policies related to acceptable use, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology and Curriculum or district administration.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting both Windows and Apple computer environments preferred.
  • Experience in K-12 educational technology environments preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, printers, and common software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move technology equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel between district buildings.
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and carry equipment as necessary to perform assigned duties.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly rate starting at $22.00 per hour
  • Eligible for district benefits in accordance with Board policy and support staff agreements.
  • Overtime must be approved in advance by the supervisor and will be compensated in accordance with applicable wage laws.
