IS&T’s Legal and Global Security Solutions (LGSS) Team is seeking an experienced full stack developer to join its engineering organization where you will work with a highly talented team of software engineers and product managers to build scalable and secure solutions that empower Apple’s legal, security and compliance functions.About LGSS EngineeringWe build and maintain critical tools and services for legal, compliance and security requirements at Apple. We are responsible for eDiscovery solutions for data collection, data preservation, legal holds, knowledge mining as well as law enforcement and privacy compliance tools. We are also responsible for developing key compliance and crisis management tools that protect Apple’s assets, people, and regulatory obligations as well as tools for intellectual property enforcement and fraud prevention. We own the full software engineering lifecycle for all of these solutions from software development and quality assurance to DevOps and sustained production support.

Description

Your responsibilities will include all aspects of software development from architecture and system design to implementation and maintenance. This role requires a highly skilled and adaptable engineer who thrives in an ambiguous environment and takes ownership of project delivery from inception to deployment. The ideal candidate will collaborate across teams, mentor engineers and drive innovation while implementing features aligned with our product roadmap.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable, reliable and secure web applications
  • Architect robust solutions while considering performance, security and maintainability
  • Work with functional leads, business stakeholders, project managers and technical teams in a cross-functional environment to understand requirements and implement solutions
  • Provide level-of-effort estimations based on thorough research, code study and work prioritization to inform stakeholders of progress and delivery timelines
  • Perform and ensure rigorous code reviews to ensure high-quality code
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other software engineers
  • Identify root causes of complex technical issues and deliver robust fixes
  • Participate in operational duty rotations when needed to resolve production issues and critical customer escalations
  • Share knowledge through presentations, documentation and best practice discussions
  • Identify and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and maintainability
  • Drive innovation for new and existing solutions through Generative AI and other AI/ML techniques
Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+ years of software development experience in Java, with strong object-oriented design skills
  • Experience in both frontend and backend development, including building and maintaining large-scale, scalable systems
  • Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases and proficiency with Unix operating systems
  • Solid knowledge of application performance optimization techniques and caching solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work related experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and system design, with proven problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Solid understanding of software architecture principles including load-balancing, microservices, system observability, security, cryptography, performance, and reliability
  • Hands-on experience building components, frameworks, and libraries that improve software efficiency and scalability, with a strong appreciation for software quality and testing
  • Familiarity with AI/ML algorithms and frameworks, AI-powered assistant tools, and experience integrating AI/ML concepts into software design and implementation
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), cloud data warehousing (Snowflake), and CI/CD tools, with working experience in Agile development methodologies
