Ontic's Chatsworth, CA, site specializes in precision engineering, MRO, and new solutions for parts at risk of obsolescence. Our team is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer, Level II, to join them. The Supplier Quality Engineer, Level II receives assignments and general direction from the Supplier Quality Manager. Often identifies and creates own assignments based on the needs of the business. Frequently communicates and interfaces with enterprise staff (salaried and hourly), functional managers, executive management, suppliers and customers.

As a member of the Quality Department, is responsible for a wide variety of quality functions associated with the procurement of aerospace parts and assemblies. Assures compliance of procured product to dimensional and contractual requirements. Assists in the development and implementation of Supplier Performance Metrics and initiates Quality Improvement initiatives with suppliers as necessary. Performs Supplier Audits/Surveys in support of Supply chain Management (Purchasing).

To be considered for Supplier Quality Engineer, Level II opening, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • A bachelor's degree in manufacturing/mechanical engineering from an accredited university
  • Requires proficient experience with aerospace products and processes.
  • A minimum of 7 years' relevant experience in relevant experience in aerospace products and processes in a roll for Supplier Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering
  • A Relevant Certification in IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 is desired
  • Six Sigma Black Belt desired
  • Knowledge with FAA Code of Federal Regulations ( CFR)
  • Knowledge with AS9100, ISO 9001 and ISO 9000 Quality Management standards
  • Sig Sigma, Lean and Statistical Analysis and Process Control Tools e.g. SPC, Pareto, DPMO/PPM, etc
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigation e.g. Apollo Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, Five Whys, Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagram, and Problem-Solving Methodologies/Techniques e.g. 8D, DMAIC
  • Mechanical Inspection Techniques. Familiar with application and use of Coordinated Measurement Machines (CMM) for product acceptance
  • Strategic and Critical thinking to grasp the big picture for the enterprise
  • Establish effective relationships with the wide spectrum of team members, stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to compose and implement detailed training plans related to Supplier Quality and General Quality Engineering subjects
  • Capability of analyzing and resolving broad challenges


As a Supplier Quality Engineer, Level II, you will:

  • Perform review of Customer Contracts/Purchase Order Quality flow down requirements and Perform review of Supplier Purchase Orders
  • Communicate Supplier Quality Management program requirements to process owners, interested parties and customers
  • Manage Approved Supplier List. Including evaluating Supplier Surveys and Approvals, Manage and Disposition Supplier Change Requests
  • Implements Supplier Quality procedures
  • Sustain a high level of ethics while conducting company business in accordance with the company's code of ethics and polices inclusive of the ASQ code of ethics
  • Applies Strategic and Critical thinking on a continual basis as it applies to Quality Management Systems and Quality of product, both for Suppliers and the Company
  • Communicate Supplier Quality Management program requirements to process owners, interested parties and customers
