As a Product Manager within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Phoenix AZ.

We are looking for an accomplished and experienced Product Manager Lead to oversee the API Governance Program. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction, defining the roadmap, and facilitating KPI/KRI Metric reporting of APIs used at PNC.
A Product Manager Lead is a senior-level role focused on driving the vision of the API Governance Program. They will need to lead in referencing approved architectural designs and best practices for API development, defining policies and controls for application teams to follow, and running a governance board with stakeholders from all LOBs.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Roadmap: Establishes the long-term vision, strategic direction, and roadmap for API Governance including the policies and controls associated to the program.
Technical Leadership: Responsible for the maintenance of the Centralized API Inventory catalog. Leads an API Governance board with stakeholders from all LOBs to review controls, policies, risk ratings, and remediations from API teams on APIs found to be non-compliant. Guides API Gateway and Management platforms to drive controls and policies.
Metric Measurement: Responsible for defining KPI/KRI metrics around risk and performance of APIs developed/used at PNC. Oversees governance metrics of APIs developed/used to determine risk, compliance, and performance across various environments. Use metric data to inform management and API teams of non-compliance and/or risk.
Security & Compliance: Ensure policies and controls are measured and enforced against API owners/developers. Partner with Security to ensure latest patterns are detected and used by APIs.
Automation Integration: Partner with CI/CD Pipeline to build automated policy-as-code checks to reduce risk and ensure compliance before deployment to Production.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
7-10 years Relevant Product Management, Product Owner, or Architecture/Software Engineer experience in running an API Governance program preferred.
Experience in Agile software development environments, preferably with developer platform products.
Strong background in API Gateways (IBM DataPower, IBM API Connect, Tetrate Service Mesh, optional: Google Apigee).
Familiarity with Akamai API Security (formerly Noname).
Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-prem solutions (OpenShift, bare-metal Kubernetes, etc.).
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
Preferred Skills:
Strong background of OpenAPI/Swagger, REST APIs, GraphQL, and API management platforms (IBM API Connect, Azure APIM, AWS API Gateway, etc.).
Exceptional communication skills to lead governance board and drive enterprise-wide adoption with API teams.
Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Product Manager (CPM) or SAFe POPM (Preferred).

  • Drives business, financial and customer experience results of new and existing products and recommends modifications in product features and/or marketing to improve results. Coordinates across groups and leads key contributors.
