Their duties can include plumbing, electrical work, HVAC maintenance, appliance repair, and general upkeep of the property’s interior and exterior. Apartment Techs ensure that all facilities are safe, functional, and meet the needs of residents. They often respond to maintenance requests from tenants and perform routine inspections to prevent issues before they arise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an apartment tech?

To thrive as an Apartment Tech, you need strong skills in general maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance systems, typically backed by a high school diploma or technical certification. Familiarity with work order management software, basic hand and power tools, and relevant EPA certifications for HVAC work is often required.
