Job description

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Building Maintenance Worker II is responsible for the ongoing and minor maintenance repairs for NEMS buildings and grounds (non-permit/licensed repairs), and act as a backup for drivers and janitors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs all the duties of a Building Maintenance Worker I
  • Responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate
  • Performs general repairs of all buildings fixtures i.e. replace water drain, leak issues etc.
  • Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures
  • Assist in completing daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Escort and assist vendors when needed
  • Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in building maintenance
  • Knowledge in maintenance supplies, equipments, materials and methods used
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance in using equipment to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions
  • Current and valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to work in a group and independently

LANGUAGE:

  • Bilingual in English and Cantonese preferred

STATUS:

  • This is an FLSA Non-exempt position.
  • This is an OSHA high-risk position.
  • This is a full-time position.
