Job description

Role Name: Java Tech Lead (NiFi, Airflow)
Location: Phoenix, AZ / Raleigh, NC / Remote
Experience: 8-10 years
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Java Tech Lead with strong expertise in Apache NiFi and Apache Airflow to design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines and workflow orchestration solutions. The role involves leading data flow architecture, integrating microservices, and ensuring high performance and reliability across enterprise data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
NiFi - Data Flow Design & Management
  • Design and implement data flow solutions using Apache NiFi, including defining data sources, destinations, and transformation logic
  • Manage data ingestion from multiple sources such as files, databases, and APIs
  • Perform data transformation, enrichment, and routing to downstream systems
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of NiFi data flows
  • Maintain and manage NiFi clusters including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Identify and resolve issues related to NiFi configurations and data integration processes

Microservices & Integration
  • Develop and integrate Java-based microservices using Spring Boot and REST APIs
  • Support data conditioning, validation, and transformation through microservices
  • Integrate event-driven and streaming architectures using Kafka

Airflow - Workflow Orchestration
  • Design and develop complex, reusable, and modular Airflow DAGs
  • Manage workflow orchestration using Airflow schedulers and executors (Celery, Kubernetes)
  • Optimize Airflow performance and address orchestration bottlenecks
  • Apply best practices for scheduling, monitoring, and dependency management

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong expertise in Apache NiFi architecture, processors, controllers, and flow management
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices-based API development
  • Experience with Apache Airflow including DAG development and workflow orchestration
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka for event-driven and streaming architectures
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, databases, and data manipulation techniques
  • Experience designing scalable and high-performance data pipelines
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills
