BAS/BMS Specialist - JLL

What this job involves - The BAS/BMS Specialist is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of building management systems across multiple facilities of Bonneville Power Administration (Client). The candidate will perform system discovery, support BMS integration and commissioning, troubleshoot alongside mechanical and electrical operations, manage technical documentation, and help us establish standards. Ensure the safe and reliable operation of HVAC and other systems. They will also work towards improving BMS efficiency towards the enhanced sustainability quotient and reduce financial impact of operations. They would also act as SME for HVAC, lighting, access control, and energy management systems.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Monitoring of BAS/BMS systems for client buildings

  • Provide inputs towards configuration, program, and commissioning of BMS hardware and software

  • Manage and maintain building automation systems, including HVAC, lighting, access control, and energy management systems

  • Monitor system performance, analyze data, and implement strategies to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, coordinating with maintenance teams and external vendors as needed.

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and system architecture diagrams.

  • Plan and oversee system upgrades, expansions, and integrations.

  • Train staff on BMS operation and maintenance procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

  • Collaborate with facilities management, IT, and other departments to align BMS strategies with overall organizational goals.

  • Manage relationships with BMS vendors and service providers.

  • Identify safety hazards within the building and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure the building's staff and occupants work in a safe environment.

  • Manage controls-related and automation projects.

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in building automation.

  • Identify, evaluate, document, and manage assets.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting building automation systems such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium, Jace, Niagara, or similar

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, lighting systems, and energy management principles

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity working in an IFM or facilities environment

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering

  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools

  • Knowledge of IoT and smart building technologies

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for building automation systems and IT/OT convergence

  • Project management experience

  • Professional certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), LEED AP, or manufacturer-specific BAS certifications (e.g., Niagara N4, Johnson Controls Metasys)

Estimated compensation for this position:

91,600.00 - 112,200.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
