These specialists play a crucial role in patient care by providing accurate diagnoses that guide treatment decisions. AP focuses on tissue-based diagnoses, including biopsies and autopsies, while CP involves laboratory testing and management, including blood work, microbiology, and molecular diagnostics. Many AP/CP pathologists work in hospitals, laboratories, or academic settings, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses.
