Job Description
  • The ability to plan, create and deliver and/or follow lesson plans
  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and test
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • Provide a structured learning atmosphere
  • Maintaining positive environment in the classroom
  • Monitor student attendance and behavior
  • Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships with students, administrators and staff

Requirements
  • B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution
  • Must have a Michigan Teaching Certification in corresponding subject area
  • Thorough knowledge of Michigan Common Core Curriculum
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse setting
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Flexible open minded, self-driven team member

Preferred Experience
  • Some background in African Centered Education
  • Some experience in methodology in African Principles
