They ensure that invoices from vendors and suppliers are accurately reviewed, approved, and paid on time. Their duties often include reconciling statements, maintaining accurate records, and resolving any discrepancies related to payments. AP Associates play a key role in supporting the financial health of an organization by ensuring timely and accurate payments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AP Associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Accounts Payable (AP) Associate, you need a solid understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and experience with invoice processing, often supported by a degree in accounting or finance. Familiarity with accounting software like SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel, is typically required. Strong organizational skills, time management, and effective communication help AP Associates manage high volumes of transactions and collaborate with vendors and internal teams. Job description

Accounts Payable Associate
About BasicBlock
At its core, BasicBlock helps truck drivers get paid faster - simple as that.
Our software and financial services remove cash flow friction so independent drivers can stay focused on the road, not their bank account. In an industry where timing matters, we make sure drivers aren't waiting to get what they've already earned.
We combine Silicon Valley ambition with Great Plains grit. That means high ownership, real responsibility, and a team that values doing great work without ego. If you're someone who wants to make an impact and be trusted to do it, you'll fit right in.
Why this role matters
This isn't a traditional AP role.
You'll be on the front lines of ensuring payments are accurate, risks are managed, and fraud is caught before it happens. Your work directly impacts how quickly drivers get paid - and how safely we operate as a business.
What you'll do

  • Ensure accurate and timely payments by reviewing carrier and broker documentation
  • Verify transaction accuracy by matching bills of lading, rate confirmations, and invoices
  • Make risk-based decisions to approve transactions or escalate concerns
  • Identify inconsistencies, abnormal patterns, or potential fraudulent activity
  • Communicate with drivers, carriers, and brokers to resolve invoicing issues
  • Partner closely with Customer Service and Sales teams to keep things moving

What we're looking for

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret financial and logistics documents
  • Sound judgment and a risk-aware mindset
  • Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in logistics, finance, or accounts payable is a plus

Benefits & Perks

  • Employee stock options - we want you to have skin in the game
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid time off
  • Weekly team lunches (on us)
  • Unlimited caffeine (we don't judge your brand)

BasicBlock is an equal opportunity employer.

Employment Type: FULL_TIME
