Job Purpose

Perspectives Charter Schools is excited to partner with the Chicago Public Schools' to launch its inaugural Career and Technical Education (CTE) track in computer programming for the 2026-2027 academic year. Perspectives seeks a dynamic and inspiring educator with relevant IT sector experience to design curriculum, teach cybersecurity, and Cisco networking while leading students to earn certifications for today’s dynamic tech sector, all through the lens of A Disciplined Life, Perspectives' socioemotional learning curriculum. The ideal candidate relishes the opportunity to shape a new program in her vision and takes personal responsibility for outstanding and transformative student outcomes.

Essential Functions

  • Provide daily instruction to students that prepares them for success on industry certification exams
  • Design curriculum to support students
  • Ensure proper maintenance of classroom computer lab (desktops, laptops, network, etc)
  • Participate in relevant professional development
  • Maintain partnership with external organizations that provide real-life industry exposure and experience to students

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor Degree or more in Computer Science or a Stem related field.
  • Knowledge base to create engaging curriculum
  • Teach how to write computer programs and program websites.
  • Instruct students on how computers work, including the basic science and mathematics behind their operation and the hardware and the software built on those foundations.
  • Advocate of building strong character values
  • Currently has or is seeking to be Cisco certified
  • Read and stay abreast of current topics in computer science or related fields.
  • Strong desire to inspire and challenge students. 
  • Tutor students on an individual basis and group basis.

Physical Demands

Majority of work will be performed in a general office/school environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
