While both roles aim to promote equity, Anti Racists focus specifically on combating racism and promoting racial justice, often through education and advocacy. Diversity and Inclusion Specialists work on a wider range of diversity issues, including race, gender, and disability, implementing comprehensive programs to foster inclusive environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a DEI Specialist, you need a solid understanding of social justice principles, organizational change, and experience with diversity training, typically supported by a relevant degree such as human resources, sociology, or psychology. Familiarity with HR information systems, data analysis tools, and certifications like Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) are valuable. Strong communication, empathy, and conflict resolution skills help foster inclusive environments and drive culture change. These skills are essential for creating equitable workplaces and effectively addressing systemic barriers.

What does an Anti Racist do?

An Anti Racist is someone who actively opposes racism by identifying, challenging, and changing the values, structures, and behaviors that perpetuate systemic racial inequalities. This can involve educating others about racism, advocating for policy changes, organizing or participating in workshops and community discussions, and supporting marginalized communities. Anti Racist work can be done individually or as part of organizations, and it often includes ongoing self-reflection and learning. The goal is to help create a more equitable society where all races are treated with fairness and respect.

How do professionals in anti-racist roles typically collaborate with other departments or stakeholders within an organization?

Professionals in anti-racist roles often work cross-functionally, engaging with HR, leadership, and various department heads to assess organizational culture and implement inclusive policies. They facilitate training sessions, lead discussions on equity, and provide guidance on best practices to ensure anti-racist principles are integrated into all levels of the organization. Collaboration is key, as these roles require building trust and fostering open communication to drive meaningful change and address systemic issues. Regular meetings, workshops, and feedback sessions are common methods used to maintain alignment and progress.

COLLABORATION FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL WEL

Eagan, MN โ€ข Remote

Job description

Collaboration for Psychological Wellness, LLC (www.collabforpsychwellness.com) is a mental health clinic located in Eagan, MN. Our clinic is owned and led by a woman of color. We are currently looking to welcome clinicians as independent contractors to our small and growing practice! Our values with both clients and clinicians alike center on engaging in collaborative relationships, engaging in culturally responsive interactions, and engaging in utilizing the best professional practices. We have a one of a KIND team and are grateful for every kind individual that collaborates with us.

What does this mean?

First and foremost, the focus of our practice is on building meaningful connection and community. We like to be the โ€œweโ€ in wellness! We believe in providing our clinicians with a collaborative, flexible, and anti-oppressive experience. We aim to find a happy balance where our clinicians do not have worry about the isolation, administrative details, and oppressive/systemic bureaucracies of solo or agency work AND where they can instead collaborate with others while enjoying the independence, flexibility, and financial benefits of being in private practice. We want clinicians to be able to show up as their best selves to do their best work with clients and their communities because they are not being hindered by inefficient and oppressive systems. We also have curated an environment in which kindness matters, as well as values clinicians individual voices and collective wisdom and harmony.

In their work with clients, we strongly encourage clinicians to focus on the therapeutic relationship as we believe itโ€™s the biggest contributor to therapeutic change. We also encourage our clinicians to use treatment approaches that make an impactful and meaningful difference in the lives of their clients and the community. At times, these approaches come from an evidence-based framework, and at other times, they do not! We recognize that evidence-based practices are not inclusive and all-encompassing. We also understand the impact of context in all forms. As such, we value providing our clients and clinicians with furnished and windowed office spaces that are newly designed to be accessible, aesthetically pleasing, clean, and comfortable. We appreciate that clinicians often tend to be life-long and dynamic learners, so engagement in case consultation and professional development activities are offered and promoted. We believe that clinicians do their best work when they feel connected, valued, and empowered! We also value celebration, as well as trust in the healing power of humor and laughter!

We are passionate about being trauma-informed, culturally responsive, decolonized, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and inclusive. We actively promote vulnerability, transparency, equity, and empowerment with our clients and with each other. Yes, we know that these terms are the buzzwords that many organizations promote, but these are things we embody, particularly as this practice is owned and operated by psychologist who identifies as 1.5 generation immigrant and a woman of color. We believe in and have seen the power of representation in mental health, particularly for those who identify as BIPOC and in their communities. As such and due to the nature of our current referrals, we STRONGLY and openly embolden those who identify as BIPOC (including those with 1st and 2nd generation immigrant backgrounds) to apply. Due to community needs, we are also looking for clinicians that can work with children and adolescents at this time.

An ideal candidate shares and resonates with our vision and values!

Our clients and our practiceโ€ฆ

As a practice, we are dedicated to providing inclusive assessment and therapy services to children, adolescents, young adults, and adults of all backgrounds. Due to nature of our outpatient setting, we specifically work those who are experiencing mild to moderate difficulties. These individuals are typically motivated, committed, and ready for change. They are seeking collaboration with a professional to encourage the process of healing and growth. We aim to provide outpatient services to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. However, it is important that clinicians work with individuals that they feel effective with in order reduce chances of burnout and compassion fatigue. We are all about inspiring our clients to find more happiness, gratitude, peace, fulfillment, self-compassion, acceptance, and empowerment in their lives.
