Deliver Infrastructure with Integrity as a Mid-Level Inspector โ€” Ensure Quality from the Ground Up

Do you take pride in precision and accountability on the job site? Are you motivated by fieldbased work where your attention to detail helps ensure complex infrastructure is delivered safely and to specification?

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Inspector to join our Construction Inspection Team in Columbia, SC. In this role, youโ€™ll be responsible for observing construction activities, documenting progress, and verifying work aligns with approved plans, specifications, and standards. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with contractors, project teams, and clients while playing a critical role in delivering transportation infrastructure projects that communities depend on every day.


  • Observe and document transportation construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and approved submittals
  • Verify quality of completed work through field measurements, computations, and monitoring of contractor quality control efforts
  • Identify nonconforming work and support evaluation of corrective actions to ensure acceptability
  • Review contractor payment applications, change orders, and quantities of completed work to support progress payments
  • Coordinate with owners, contractors, and project teams while maintaining clear reports and accurate project records

  • High School Diploma required; Associateโ€™s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related construction observation experience required
  • Knowledge of construction techniques and ability to comprehend construction documents
  • Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with project teams and assisting senior team members with complex projects
  • Strong communication and mathematics skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driverโ€™s license required; extensive travel may be required
  • ACI and South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) Earthwork and Concrete Roadway certifications preferred
