Job description

Our Summer Camp Team is seeking multiple part-time temporary Camp Leaders (Summer Camp Leaders)(35 hours per week). The summer Camp Group Leader will work in child, youth and community development with children and youth living in the Regent Park, St. Jamestown, Moss Park and Cabbagetown neighbourhoods.


This 8/9-week role will run from June 22 until July 31, 2026 and August 10 - August 21,2026, with one (unpaid) week off between August 3-9, 2026 due to a break in the summer camp schedule.


Please note that this job opening is for Canada Summer Jobs applicants only, who must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with the Employment and Social Development Canada as outlined:


  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate, plan, inspire, supervise and facilitate children and youth at day camp
  • Provide leadership for indoor / outdoor sports, 'STEAM' projects, field trips, teaching, and other organized activities over a 6-week period (plus 2-week orientation).
  • Encourage camp participants to build stronger relationships, develop leadership skills, overcome social barriers and foster recognition that they have the capacity to improve their own communities
  • Assist in fully integrating children with special needs into camp programs
  • Participate in the planning and implementing of a community event and other special events
  • Attend to other duties as required by the Summer Camp


Qualifications:


  • Minimum completion of grade 11
  • Dynamic and enthusiastic, with a passion for and knowledge of children and youth from under resourced areas with experience in a multicultural multi-faith setting
  • Previous camp facilitating experience (ie. group leader is an asset)
  • Leadership skills, communication skills and ability to motivate children and youth in a high energy environment
  • Team builders, flexible, resilient, with a teachable spirit
  • Media and Tech competency (ie. video / music editing, animation and coding) is essential
  • Creative thinking and skill to help develop and plan tech projects for children
  • Patient, positive, hardworking attitude and demonstrated recreational & artistic skills
