Job description

Position Summary

Bring our games to life as a translator between art and engineering, working closely with the game studio artists and engineers to ensure that the player-facing vision for the game is achieved. Other duties include managing and improving the content creation pipeline, working with game artists on asset implementation, and staying current on game industry tools and processes.

*Requires experience working with game development software, excellent coding skills, and a good eye for detail.

Essential Job Functions:

Implement art assets in 2D and 3D games.

Participate in the planning, architecting, and implementing of game functionality.

Identify and fix code errors and performance bottlenecks.

Ensure the optimal performance, quality, and responsiveness of games.

Experience with memory and space optimization.

Knowledge of scripting, animation, session management, and textures.

Good troubleshooting skills.

Excellent attention to detail.

Assist Artists and Engineers with technical issues related to the art pipeline.

Assist with documenting best practices.

Our studio is located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This role requires on-site presence 4 days a week.

Qualifications

Training and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.

Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant work experience in technical art, animation, or relevant field.

1 year game development experience or academic equivalent is an asset but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of Godot, Unity, Unreal, or equivalent game engine.

Understanding of versioning software i.e. Git (Preferred), Perforce, CVS, Alien Brain or similar.

Experience with game assets (examples: meshes, animations, materials).

Experience in profiling and optimizing game and render performance (GPU and CPU).

Understanding of game design process, and experience working with game development team.

Ability to identify errors and troubleshoot.

Ability to interact and collaborate with the immediate team, as well as junior and senior colleagues.
