Job description

Position Summary
The ISSO (International Students and Scholars Office) at Columbia University seeks a Video Media Assistant. Duties include assisting ISSO's Communications Team in creating online videos and promotional media for Columbia students, faculty, and departments.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is enthusiastic, creative, hard-working, and multi-faceted who can enhance our online video production and social media. The position is approximately 20 hours/week, $18/hour to start.
Responsibilities
  • Work with ISSO staff to develop online videos and reels including script writing, storyboarding, filming, and post-production (editing, sound, text/graphic overlays)
  • Create graphics and designs for web and print
  • Assist and take direction from the Senior Assistant Director for Communications but also work alongside broader ISSO teams
  • Collaborate with ISSO teams on projects and campaigns that share student, scholar, and family experiences, events, and initiatives

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a currently enrolled Columbia University student
  • Must demonstrate strong video and sound editing/production skills
  • Experience in Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects
  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop and Canva
  • Excellent English language written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be open to a hybrid work schedule (some days in person at our Armstrong office, W 112th and Broadway, and some days remotely)
  • Must be available for a weekly team meeting (date determined upon start)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize information
  • Experience in creating motion graphics and visual animations is preferred
  • Experience in media/design for international students and scholars is a plus
