Job description

Thinkpath Engineering Services is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to fill an opportunity in Sidney, OH.   This will initially be a 6 month contract with strong likelihood of going direct at that time.

Responsibilities:


  • Exhibit technical proficiency while coordinating analytical, design and development assignments in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of compressor product models and package subsystems as well as their interaction with each other.
  • Suggest and implement product design improvements, which add features or reduce cost and cycle time.
  • Coordinate, direct and check the work of others acting in a support capacity.
  • Design and analyze components and packaged systems in order to improve performance, solve recurrent problems and reduce costs.
  • Conceptualize, organize and complete, with the support of others, the design of new gas compressor components, applications, or completely new package layouts.
  • Prepare 3-D CAD configuration models and drawings organizing arrangement and relationship of key components.
  • Establish liaison with production team to ensure product documentation is accurate and adequate for efficient assembly.
  • Interface with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Analyst and Production
  • Planning to determine design change requirements.
  • Generate Engineering Change Notices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Electro-mechanical Engineering or 4+ years of experience in Mechanical Design
  • Experience working within a design or technical team environment
  • Self-motivated, innovative, responsible, excellent communication skills, leadership aptitude.
  • Proficient with 3-D CAD and large assemblies (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience creating 2-D detailed drawings for manufacturing (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience with SAP desired but not required
  • Rotating Machinery design experience a plus
  • Experience with piping, tubing, wiring (conduit) design a plus
  • Experience with welded frames, bracketry, and piping design a plus
