Job description

Position Summary

The Senior Technical Artist acts as a resource within the art team, mentoring other artists in the use of Unity, optimizing asset creation pipelines, troubleshooting technical issues, and operating as a liaison between the art and engineering teams to ensure art content is correctly integrated into the game. Responsibilities include creating UI prefabs, Mechanim, timelines, particle systems, shaders, and materials, supporting Live events and economy rollouts, and packaging assets for dynamic delivery to players.

Essential Job Functions
  • Mentor the art team in the technical aspects of Unity asset creation.
  • Perform R&D for new technology required for feature implementation through creative problem solving, iterative design, and prototyping.
  • Assist in developing standards, processes, and proprietary tools alongside Production and Development teams.
  • Document processes and procedures for game features and associated Unity implementation.
  • Adhere to file structure in artistic source, directory, and version management.
  • Communicate between engineers, designers, and non-technical artists to package assets efficiently for quality products on the target platform.
  • Coordinate with LiveOps and Configuration Managers to identify, package, create, and verify assets required to support in-game events and economy rollouts.
  • Own technical delivery of assets for scheduled updates, ensuring all assets are fully tested and perform reliably delivered against production deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to continuously improve skills through independent learning and collaboration with team members; identify more efficient processes to improve throughput.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and receptiveness to critique from team members.
  • Self‑manage time effectively with a reasonable degree of accountability and minimal instruction.
  • Create 2D assets for all aspects of the product, including UI, composition, VFX, and animations.
  • Oversee and support items across the art pipeline – from asset optimization, exporting, through implementation and test.
Education

Bachelor of Arts in art/animation or technical degree or equivalent industry experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Deep practical knowledge of Unity features including UI system, Mechanim, timelines, particle system, shaders, materials, optimizations, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Unity, 3DS Max.
  • Proficient in UI Design and development in Unity.
  • Proficient in Unity animation systems and knowledge of event‑driven programming.
  • Proficient in implementing art into Unity prefabs complete with animations and atlases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of how to design art for various themes and target platform.
  • Working knowledge of production collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Proficient in asset management and managing branching inside of version control systems (Git).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • 3D experience.
Level Requirements

Portfolio (website or blog required for pre‑interview).
