Job description

JOB PURPOSE

The Animal Caretaker IV Team Member is responsible for loading market hogs from commercial finisher buildings being delivered to the processing plant under direction of the Loadout Supervisor. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Sort and loadout market hogs while ensuring all loadout and animal handling procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that all Seaboard Foods loadout, animal handling, and safety guide procedures and guidelines are always followed by all team members
  • Properly wear all personal protective equipment outlined in the company standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Follow all biosecurity guidelines while performing all job duties
  • Properly wash, disinfect and store equipment and clothing as needed and scheduled.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining office areas.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Bilingual, Spanish and English preferred but not necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility.  The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving

mechanical parts and is commonly exposed to airborne particles and gases at low concentrations.  The employee is frequently exposed to waste material, feed and hog dust.
