Hennessy Research Associates - a Kemin Company is searching for a dedicated Animal Caretaker.

The Lab Animal Caretaker plays a vital, hands-on role in the heart of our research environment. This position brings energy and purpose to the daily care and husbandry of laboratory animals, following established procedures, protocols, and regulatory standards with precision and compassion. By maintaining a clean, safe, and humane setting for every animal in the facility, this role helps power meaningful scientific discovery and supports the success of our research teams.

This part-time, as needed position will work on-site in Lenexa, Kansas. This individual may be asked to work holidays or weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Feed and water animals according to species-specific schedules and research protocols using appropriate equipment.
  • Ensure feed and water systems are clean, functioning, and properly maintained.
  • Assist with routine animal handling, including moving animals safely when needed
  • Observe animals daily for signs of injury, illness, or abnormal behavior and report findings to veterinary staff or supervisor.
  • Assist with the administration of basic treatments, medications, or vaccinations with close supervision.
  • Clean and maintain animal environments and equipment to meet cleanliness standards.
  • Assist with receiving and housing animals as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in animal care or laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Communication and reliability is a must.
