An Animal Remote Writer is a professional who creates content related to animals, such as articles, blogs, or social media posts, while working remotely. They may write about animal care, behavior, conservation, veterinary topics, or pet advice for websites, magazines, or organizations. Animal Remote Writers often conduct research, interview experts, and use their writing skills to engage and inform audiences about various animal-related subjects. This role is ideal for those passionate about animals and skilled in written communication.

Job description

Internship Summary:
As a Human Resources Intern, you will gain structured, hands-on exposure to the full employee lifecycle at an employee-owned clean energy engineering firm. Working under the direct supervision of experienced HR staff, you'll support a broad range of HR programs - compliance, payroll and timekeeping support, benefits administration, and employee recordkeeping - while building foundational HR expertise through mentorship, shadowing, and the completion of projects.
This internship is designed as a learning experience. You'll be paired with an HR mentor and participate in regular check-ins and training courses. You'll also represent Revamp's values of Impact, Collaboration, Trust, and Equity to internal stakeholders at every stage of the employee experience.
Learning Objectives:
  • Build working familiarity with federal and California HR compliance frameworks and reporting cycles.
  • Understand how payroll, timekeeping, and benefits administration operate in a multi-state employer.
  • Develop professional judgment in handling confidential information under supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Compliance + Reporting
  • Review and update OSHA and labor law postings across all office locations on a regular cadence, verifying that required postings are accurate and complete.
  • Maintain a compliance calendar and checklist to help ensure Revamp's HR programs remain consistent with federal, state, and local legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support federal, state, and local mandated reporting-including EEO, ACA, and applicable state and local filings-tracking deadlines and compiling required data.
Payroll + Timekeeping Support
  • Track hourly employee timesheets and follow up on missing or incomplete submissions ahead of each payroll cycle to support accurate, on-time processing.
  • Review timesheets and expense/reimbursement coding for accuracy, escalating discrepancies to the appropriate manager.
  • Assist in managing state registrations and setups as employees relocate or travel, and research and resolve routine state payroll tax notices.
Benefits + Leave Administration
  • Verify QLE changes with broker and/or carriers, as necessary
  • Support 401(k) eligibility and enrollment fundamentals, and support open enrollment activities including employee system access and insurance card distribution.
  • Complete disability and related claim paperwork across applicable state and carrier programs.
General HR + Administrative Support
  • Serve as a resource for routine employee questions, administering Employee Handbook policies and procedures and assisting in resolving day-to-day matters.
  • Provide administrative support for professional licensing management.
  • Handle sensitive mail-including confidential and immigration-related documents-with strict confidentiality and filing as needed.
Additional Duties
  • Perform essential duties, including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Required
  • Greater than 60+ credits earned towards a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of federal employment law and HR compliance fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll platforms is a plus, and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite is required
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the follow-through to resolve open items ahead of deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize work, and juggle multiple compliance, payroll, and benefits priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Available to work four hours per day, Monday to Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM PT.
  • Ability to commute into the Oakland office on an as-needed basis (approx. 1 - 2 days weekly).
Preferred
  • Knowledge of California HR and employment law.
  • Participation in a local HR Professional group or possession of an aPHR, SHRM-CP, or comparable is desirable.

Benefits for Internship Position:
  • Attractive vacation, sick, and holiday pay.
