Animal Packer information

What is an animal packer?

Animal packers are workers responsible for preparing, packaging, and sometimes processing animal products, such as meat, poultry, or seafood, for distribution and sale. They ensure that products are handled safely and efficiently, following hygiene and safety regulations. Animal packers may also inspect products for quality, weigh and label packages, and operate machinery used in the packaging process. This role is commonly found in food processing plants and warehouses. Attention to detail and physical stamina are important in this job.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an animal packer?

To thrive as an Animal Packer, you need physical stamina, attention to detail, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Job description

Job Description: House Manager (with Meal Prep Support)
Location: Alexandria, VA 22301
Employment Type: Part-time, 20 -25 hours per week (20 hours guaranteed)
Schedule: Flexible weekdays (5 days/week; 4 hours per day) between the hours of 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Compensation: $30-$35 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Requirements:
  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Fragrance-free (our household is scent-sensitive)
  • Reliable transportation
  • Comfortable around pets and children
  • General vaccinations; COVID and flu vaccines preferred
About Our Family:
We're a busy, animal loving family of four in Alexandria, VA, looking for a dedicated and proactive household manager to help keep our home running smoothly. Our family thrives when our home is in order, and having top-notch organization helps keep everyone regulated and stress free. Both parents work from home and we have energetic 3.5-year-old twins.
We have a very active household, with both parents managing long days and demanding careers, making it difficult to keep up with daily tasks. We need someone who can help us get caught up initially and then maintain a sustainable rhythm going forward so we can actually enjoy our downtime and spend quality time together as a family. We're creating a comprehensive household manual so the right person can step in and take ownership of the day-to-day - meal prep, laundry, organizing - without needing constant direction. We are hoping to build a long-term partnership with someone who feels comfortable in our space and can develop a warm, professional relationship with our family over time.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For:
You're proactive and anticipatory, able to learn our family's rhythms and foresee what's coming next without being asked. You're organized, tech-savvy, and comfortable using tools like Notion to follow household systems. You bring a strong work ethic, reliability, and take genuine satisfaction in helping a busy household feel organized, supported, and at ease.
You're a team player who communicates openly and directly, and you're willing to do things the way we prefer them done, respecting our established systems around cleaning products, laundry care, and household organization. You are someone who will respect and follow our family's detailed systems rather than substituting your own methods. While our childcare needs are covered, you are someone who is comfortable around young children and a variety of animals (we have a puppy, two cats, birds, a fish and frog). While we don't need our House Manager to help out with our pets currently, you may need to help with the dog in the future once his puppy training is completed.
You are someone who will bring a professional but warm presence to our home. You're looking for a long-term position where you can grow with a family over the years, and grow your responsibilities over time. Above all, you're someone who can help restore a sense of calm and order to our household so we can focus on being present with our kids and help us find more balance as a family.
Key Responsibilities
Household Management & Organization
  • Perform daily resets including dishes, clearing surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, and trash removal
  • Kitchen appliance care and cleaning, including refilling espresso machine

Laundry & Linen Care
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry following detailed care instructions
  • Handle delicate items with specific washing preferences
  • Rotate and refresh linens throughout the home
  • Initially catch up on backed-up laundry, then maintain ongoing rhythm
Meal Planning & Prep
  • Plan and prepare ingredients for approximately four family dinners per week.
  • Complete advance meal preparation such as chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, assembling meal components, or preparing fully cooked meals that can be easily reheated and served at dinnertime.
  • Utilize the family's Paprika app, favorite recipes, and extensive cookbook collection to support meal planning and preparation.
  • Accommodate a variety of dietary preferences and needs within the household when planning and preparing meals.
  • Batch prep and cook items for the children's school lunches for the week.
Inventory & Errands
  • Restock pantry, fridge, household supplies, and pet supplies
  • Manage and organize household subscription services from Amazon, Target, Chewy, Grove, HealthyBaby, and Shipt

  • Handle occasional in-person errands in walkable neighborhood (dry cleaning twice monthly, pharmacy, post office, UPS)
  • Manage returns, gift shopping, mail, and package handling
  • Refueling the family car and tidying of vehicle, as needed
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
  • Organize refrigerator and remove expired food as part of meal prep and pantry management
  • Support toy rotation projects
  • Assist with major organization projects during and after home renovation
  • Maintain outdoor spaces including patio furniture
