Baylor College of Medicine and CHRISTUS Children’s, a world‑class 240‑bed freestanding children’s hospital in San Antonio, serves as a focal point for pediatric services throughout the community. In 2013, CHRISTUS Health finalized an agreement partnering with Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) to recruit, employ, and oversee physicians and advanced practice providers at CHRISTUS Children’s.

Located in the heart of the world’s largest medical center (Texas Medical Center), Baylor is affiliated with multiple educational, healthcare and research affiliates (Baylor Affiliates).

Division Summary

The Department of Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine has an opening for a full‑time Pediatric Cardiovascular Anesthesiologist attending position at CHRISTUS Children’s. This position comes with a faculty appointment, a competitive salary, and a full benefits package. The candidate’s credentials and experience will determine the rank of the academic appointment.

Job Duties Responsibilities

The anesthesiologist will be responsible for clinical anesthesia services for a wide range of congenital and non‑congenital cardiac procedures, including neonatal and complex heart surgeries, cardiac caths and advanced imaging, and non‑cardiac procedures in children with congenital heart disease.

Anesthesiologists may provide anesthesia services for General and OB Anesthesiology.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be eligible to hold an unrestricted Texas medical license.
Education / Skills
  • Board Certified / Board Eligible in Anesthesia and Pediatric Anesthesia.
  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiovascular Anesthesia or greater than 5 years of experience in cardiac anesthesia in a center with greater than 100 pump cases per year.
