The Specialty Software Engineer for Mobile Accessibility is responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing mobile applications with a strong emphasis on accessibility compliance (WCAG) and user experience. This role requires expertise across both iOS and Android platforms, ensuring applications are accessible, scalable, and aligned with enterprise engineering standards. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality mobile solutions while embedding accessibility and usability into the core development process.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms.
- Ensure all applications meet WCAG accessibility standards (2.0 / 2.1).
- Build and enhance features using Swift/SwiftUI for iOS and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose for Android.
- Architect scalable and maintainable mobile solutions.
- Collaborate with design, product, and engineering teams to ensure accessible and intuitive user experiences.
- Review and analyze complex, multi-faceted, or longer-term specialty software engineering challenges.
- Identify and remediate accessibility issues within mobile applications.
- Contribute to the resolution of complex situations requiring a solid understanding of function, policies, and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience developing mobile applications (iOS and/or Android).
- 5+ years of Android development experience.
- 5+ years of iOS development experience.
- 3+ years of mobile solutions engineering experience, including architecture, design, and cross-platform solutions.
- 1+ year of experience with accessibility standards, specifically WCAG 2.0 / 2.1.
- Experience designing, architecting, and delivering enterprise-grade mobile applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android).
- Experience building accessible mobile applications in regulated environments.
- Understanding of mobile UX, performance optimization, and accessibility best practices.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale mobile platforms.
