Senior Mobile Engineer
Location: Burlingame, California (Hybrid Onsite)
Work Type: Contract
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mobile Developer with deep expertise in Android application development using Kotlin. This individual will design, build, and maintain high-performance mobile applications, playing a key role in architecting scalable solutions and driving technical best practices. The role involves collaboration with product, design, QA, and backend engineering teams to deliver exceptional mobile experiences, with a focus on leveraging AI-Assisted tooling for development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin.
  • Architect scalable, maintainable, and high-performing mobile solutions.
  • Build modern user interfaces using Jetpack Compose and Android UI frameworks.
  • Implement and maintain application architectures such as MVVM, Clean Architecture, and modular design patterns.
  • Integrate RESTful APIs and backend services to enable secure and reliable data exchange.
  • Optimize application performance, stability, security, and responsiveness.
  • Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and automated testing strategies.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide technical leadership across the development team.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, QA Engineers, and Backend Developers to deliver business-critical features.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and mobile release processes.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of software development experience, with a majority of time spent in Mobile/Kotlin development.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted tooling for development and workflows (e.g., Claude, Codex, Cursor, Gemini).
  • Strong experience within Android Architecture and frameworks.
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and SDK.
  • Experience with mobile testing frameworks such as JUnit and Espresso.
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with React Native or cross-platform mobile frameworks.
  • Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, TeamCity, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of Firebase services.
  • Experience working with mobile security, authentication, and encryption.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience publishing and maintaining applications in the Google Play Store.
