This Senior Android Engineer is part of the Air Shopping Experience team, which builds the endtoend air shopping journey, across native and web, that powers flight search, discovery, and booking across Expedia Group brands. We focus on fast, reliable, and intuitive mobile experiences that help travelers find the right flights with confidence, while enabling experimentation and innovation at scale across our apps. The Air Shopping Experience team sits within our Technology organization, partnering closely with platform, search, recommendations, checkout, identity, and experimentation teams to deliver connected, highquality experiences across brands and platforms. This role will be based in Seattle, collaborating with distributed teams across Expedia Group.
In this role, you will:

• Design, build, and maintain advanced Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability across a diverse device ecosystem.

• Lead endtoend feature delivery, including lowlevel design, API design, and data modeling for mobile features and services that integrate with backend systems and shared platforms.

• Collaborate with product, design, and crossfunctional engineering teams to define technical approaches, refine requirements, and deliver highquality customer experiences in a fastpaced environment.

• Drive code quality through rigorous code reviews, automated testing strategies, continuous integration, and adherence to engineering best practices for Android development.

• Safely integrate and operate AI/MLenabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

• Enhance observability, performance monitoring, and incident resolution for Android applications, contributing to operational excellence and reusable patterns across multiple product areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience.

• Professional experience developing and shipping Android applications using Kotlin in a production environment, including ownership of features or services from design through deployment and support.

• Experience with Android application architecture, API integration, and data modeling, including working with RESTful services and offline data handling.

• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain testable, maintainable, and performant Android codebases using modern frameworks, tools, and libraries.

• Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, with a focus on safely integrating these capabilities into mobile features.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as an Android Engineer and advanced proficiency in Kotlin.

• Advanced proficiency with Jetpack components/Jetpack Compose, Android UI/UX best practices, and performance optimization.

• Deep understanding of Android app architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVI, MVP).

• Experience leading technical design for complex Android features, including lowlevel design, API contracts, and data models that integrate with multiple backend or shared services.

• Proven track record driving architectural improvements in Android apps (such as modularization, design patterns, or platform standardization) and mentoring other engineers on best practices.

• Experience safely integrating and operating AI/MLenabled or AIassisted features within mobile applications, such as recommendation experiences, intelligent automation, or personalized flows.

• Demonstrated ability to apply AI/MLadjacent techniques (for example, leveraging ondevice ML frameworks or AIpowered developer tools) to improve development productivity, quality, or customer outcomes.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $184,500.00 to $258,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $295,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
