Job description

SUMMARY:TheAssistantManageris responsible forassistingtheGeneralManagerinall aspects of theFood Nutrition /Dining Programfor which he/she oversees.

TheAssistantManagerwill ensure that allguidelines,relating to theNSLP, consistentlyasdeterminedby theGeneralManager.Stay current with USDA regulations and ensure menus and processes are in compliance at all times.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS,RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assistin the maintenance ofsystems and procedures for the ordering, receiving, storing,preparingand serving of food related products, as well as menu planning anddevelopmentusingWhitsonsapproved systems and policies
  • Managesprogramwithin all budgetary guidelinesestablishedbyGeneralManager,DistrictManagerandWhitsons.
  • Assistin theMotivation, training, and managingsubordinate Team Members.
  • Assistsindeterminingthe necessary tools for the team to perform atsatisfactorylevel.
  • Act as client liaison andManager whenGeneralManageris not on premises.
  • Maintain a harmonious working relationship with Team bydemonstratingconsistent andequitabletreatment for allTeam Membersconsistentlyin accordance withCompany policies.
  • Ensurescompliance with applicable health regulations and ordinances andthat all facilities are prepared for any state or local board of health inspection.
  • ParticipateswithGeneralManagerinbudgets andoperational financial forecasts andis able toexplain variances. Responsible for accounting and documenting accurately all financial components.
  • Understand and implementrequirements forappropriate sanitationand safety levels in respectiveareas are metand staffadequatelytrained.
  • Assistin supervision and coordination ofall production, merchandising, quality and cost control, labormanagementandTeam Membertraining.
  • Recruits, hires, develop andretainteamusingCompanyrequired systems,proceduresand policies.
  • Assistswithrecurring inventory;maintainingrecords tocomply withWhitsons, government and accrediting agency standards.
  • Understands and monitors withGeneralManager,all expenses such as food cost, labor cost and operating expenses while providing exceptional customer service.
  • AssistsGeneralManagerinall purchasing andutilizationof government commodities including processed goods.
  • Helps prepareslocation for internal QA audit by using the "Check Yes" tools.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures marketing, merchandising in place effectually and current at all times.
  • Participate withGeneralManagerin monthly or bi-monthly communications to the client and DM, highlightingactivityona monthlybasisincluding any financial information requested byclient.
  • Performs additionalduties asassigned byGeneralManagerfrom time to time.
  • Learn andadhere to all company and district policiesand ensure thatentireteam understands and follows them.
  • Must spend 80% of workday in the schoolsobservingand supporting team.
