Job description

Position Title:Neurophysiology Technologist I - PRNDepartment:NeurophysiologyJob Description:

General Summary

Under direct supervision,assistsin the performance of a variety of Neurophysiology procedures that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of nerve and brain disorders.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilitieslisted in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or withoutan accommodationmay result in disqualification from the position.

  • Records andidentifiesvarious Neurophysiology data in various settings.

  • After supervisedorientation:obtains patient history, attaches patientelectrodesandoperatesNeurophysiology equipment, during operation of equipmentobservestudies, analyzes wave graphs, makes documentations toindicatedisorders, artifact, and responsible for settings adjustments.

  • Cares for all age groups, sets-up and prepares patients for Neurophysiology studies, completes post study paperwork used to maintainpatientsfiles. Adheres to hospital / departmental guidelines and judgment during patient care, attends andparticipatesin educational, departmental, and required meetings.

  • Observes Neurophysiologydata, andis willing to acquire new skills under direction of physicians, Nurse practitioner, manager, and technologists, including not limited to Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.

  • Participatesinmaintainingequipment and reports needed repairs tomanager. Maintainscleanenvironment including but not limited to equipment and workspaces.

GeneralResponsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GEDrequired

Experience Requirements

  • No experiencerequired.Healthcare experience preferred.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Associationrequiredupon hire.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to provide outstanding patient care.

  • Somegeneralknowledge of physiology.

  • Cognitive and psychomotor skillsrequired.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills that allowrelaying ofinformation in a clear, concise, and calm manner.

  • Ability to develop andmaintaineffective working relationships with staff and physicians.

  • Basic knowledge of computers.
