Job description

Anatomic Pathology Manager

Anatomic Pathology Manager - Nyack, NY, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. $10,000 Sign-on Bonus, for external candidates. Relocation Assistance.

The Anatomic Pathology Manager has the overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and non-pathologist staff members in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory. Individual must possess the ability to drive high quality results in a safe working environment. Individual must value integrity and operate the Anatomic Pathology laboratory in an efficient, economical and businesslike manner.

Pay range: $100,000 - $179,650 / year. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work in the Cytology and Histology laboratories. Serves as liaison with other areas as needed. Specifically serves as liaison between Anatomic Pathology laboratory and Pathologists. Helps ensure that all applicable procedures are followed.
  • Mentors and supports direct reports, i.e. Supervisors, QA Specialists and Safety Coordinators in their responsibilities and functions, ensuring they receive training in supervisory skill development. Identifies and implements training programs as necessary. Mentors and supports all staff within department.
  • Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Specialist. Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date. Oversee plans and preparations for inspections.
  • Oversees staffing of all personnel in the Anatomic Pathology laboratory. Effectively maintains quality staffing by interviewing, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
  • Identifies future needs in terms of staff, equipment, and facilities. Submits appropriate documentation for procurement of such.
  • Reviews test performance, drives process and project management, and prepares and submits required reports to meet established deadlines.
  • Manages test database. Ensures departmental standard operating procedures and database accurately reflects the current process.
  • Coordinates R&D activities as related to operations and actively participates on subspecialty committees, corporate committees, and business unit committees as needed.
  • Develops annual budget and manages department costs and resources to adhere to budget.
  • Resolves problems through interaction with clients via phone calls or other means of communication.
  • Defines, coordinates and monitors EHS programs and supervises activities of the Department Safety Coordinator. Ensures EHS regulatory standards and safety procedures are followed. Oversees plans and preparations for inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership or as business needs dictate.
Qualifications

Required Work Experience:

Minimum of 8 years AP laboratory experience with at least 5-7 years of direct supervisory experience in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree BS degree in Biological/Physical sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
