Job Summary
The Project Manager, AMP Agroforestry/Livestock, is responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day operations of the grant-funded AMP Agroforestry/Livestock project. The position provides technical assistance and outreach support to participating farmers and landowners, and assists in implementing conservation and livestock management practices that support sustainable agriculture and market development. The Manager will coordinate educational programs and project activities, payments to participant farmers, collect and analyze project-related data, maintain records, prepare reports, and support overall project goals and compliance requirements. The position requires strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively with project stakeholders and travel throughout Alabama as needed
Essential Job Duties
- Coordinate and conduct project meetings, workshops, field days, and educational outreach activities.
- Work closely with participant farmers and landowners to provide or coordinate technical assistance related to conservation, agroforestry, and livestock management practices.
- Conduct farm visits and field evaluations prior to implementation of approved project practices.
- Assist farmers and landowners with processing payment documentation and reimbursement requests related to approved project activities.
- Provide guidance and support to project participants regarding recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
- Collect, process, organize, and analyze project-related samples, data, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare drafts of semi-annual, annual, and final progress reports and assist with grant reporting activities.
- Coordinate day-to-day project operations, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, agencies, producers, and community stakeholders to support project goals and outreach initiatives.
- Develop and deliver educational and outreach programming related to agroforestry, livestock systems, and resilient and profitable agriculture.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences with a concentration in Agroforestry, Silvopasture, Animal Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience coordinating meetings, educational events, workshops, and outreach activities.
- Experience working with farmers, landowners, and agricultural stakeholders while providing technical assistance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
- Experience using data analysis software such as Excel, R, SAS, SPSS, or similar platforms.
- Ability to travel domestically as required and maintain a valid driver's license (or obtain one within 30 days of hire).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Agroforestry, Silvopasture, Animal Science, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field.
- One year of additional experience in relevant agricultural or conservation-related fields.
- Experience working with resilient and profitable agriculture, livestock systems, or sustainable agriculture projects.
- Experience with grant-funded program management, reporting, and stakeholder engagement activities.
