What is an analytics implementation engineer?

An Analytics Implementation Engineer is a professional responsible for setting up, configuring, and maintaining digital analytics tools on websites and mobile applications. They work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate them into technical tracking specifications, and ensure accurate data collection for analysis. Their role often involves deploying tags, managing tag management systems, and troubleshooting data issues. This position requires a combination of technical skills, understanding of marketing analytics, and strong problem-solving abilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an analytics implementation engineer?

To thrive as an Analytics Implementation Engineer, you need strong expertise in web analytics, JavaScript, tag management systems, and a background in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Google Tag Manager, Adobe Analytics, and certifications in analytics platforms are often expected. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication with stakeholders set top performers apart. These skills are vital for accurately collecting, interpreting, and communicating data to drive business insights and optimize digital experiences.

What are some common challenges faced by analytics implementation engineers when integrating analytics tools across multiple platforms?

Analytics Implementation Engineers often encounter challenges such as ensuring data consistency and accuracy across various digital platforms, dealing with legacy systems that may not easily support modern analytics tools, and navigating frequent updates or changes in website or app architectures. Close collaboration with development, product, and marketing teams is critical to clarify tracking requirements and maintain reliable data flows. Addressing these challenges requires a strong understanding of both the technical aspects of analytics tools and the business needs driving data collection.

What is the difference between Analytics Implementation Engineer vs Data Analyst?

Power Factors is a software and solutions provider leading the next generation of clean energy with Unity, one of the most extensive and widely deployed renewable energy management suites (REMS) in the market. With over 300 GW of wind, solar, and energy storage assets managed worldwide across more than 600 customers and 18,000 sites, Power Factors manages 25% of the world's renewable energy data.

Power Factors' Unity REMS supports the entire energy value chain, from monitoring and controls to market analytics. The company's suite of open, data-driven applications empowers renewable energy stakeholders to collaborate, automate critical workflows, and make more informed decisions to maximize asset returns. With deep domain expertise, AI-powered insights are delivered at scale so businesses can optimize assets, unlock growth, and make smarter decisions as the world rapidly transitions to clean energy. Power Factors fights climate change with code.

* Outside China and India

ABOUT THE ROLE

Power Factors is looking for a Principal Implementation Engineer to join our Professional Services team in leading complex, high-stakes platform implementations for renewable energy asset owners and operators. As a Principal IE, you will serve as the technical and domain authority throughout the customer engagement lifecycle, co-owning end-to-end delivery of our software solutions for utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS customers.

Our platform ingests millions of IoT and other data points, cleanses the data, detects performance issues, identifies leading indicators of future problems, and delivers advanced analytics to help customers maximize asset performance. In addition to monitoring and analytics, the platform provides the toolsets needed to turn insights into action, including case management and work order management capabilities.

You will play an important role within GCO by using both professional and domain expertise to help the team achieve delivery goals, whether through mentoring implementation engineers on renewable energy fundamentals, driving methodology improvements, surfacing field insights back to Product, or raising the quality bar on customer-facing deliverables.

You will work remotely with an international team across the US, Canada, Sweden, Germany, Greece, India, and the Philippines.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Lead end-to-end implementations for utility-scale solar, wind, and BESS customers
  • Serve as the domain authority on how technically sophisticated customers, including Performance Engineering teams, Asset Management organizations, and Operations leaders, intend to use the platform and interpret its output
  • Lead technical discovery workshops and translate operational requirements and design into platform configuration, covering KPIs, dashboards, analytics, data onboarding, and integrations
  • Review and validate implementation deliverables for technical accuracy, ensuring configured data structures and analytics outputs align with industry standards and customer expectations
  • Drive UAT and production readiness through Technical Support handoff with the credibility of someone who has lived the workflows being validated
  • Mentor others on the team to build renewable energy domain fluency across the PS team
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of implementation methodology, solution design templates, Professional Services runbooks, and validation standards
  • Surface renewable industry requirements and field observations back to Product and Engineering from direct customer engagement

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

A successful candidate will enjoy working in a purpose-driven organization and thrives in environments that require deep domain expertise, precise technical execution, and trusted advisor-level customer engagement. The candidate manages multiple concurrent complex engagements, communicates with credibility across both technical and business stakeholders, and is driven by delivering outcomes that matter to the people operating renewable assets. Specifically, we are looking for someone with:

  • 8+ years of experience working inside the renewable energy industry, in asset management, performance engineering, O&M, or a comparable technical role at an IPP, asset owner, OEM analytics team, or renewable monitoring organization including several years of PV experience
  • Hands-on operational experience with SCADA systems, electrical drawings/as built drawings, data historians, or APM platforms; able to interrogate time-series data, diagnose performance issues, and validate data quality in production environments
  • Deep familiarity with renewable energy performance concepts: power curve analysis, performance ratio, availability calculations, energy yield variance, loss categorization, and O&M cost structures
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and data structures; able to independently interrogate datasets and validate platform outputs
  • Technical aptitude for SaaS configuration, APIs, data mapping and transformation, and troubleshooting complex customer environments
  • Demonstrated ability to translate operational requirements into software configuration decisions with ownership and precision
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, including the ability to engage performance engineers and asset managers at the peer level on the details that matter to them
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple concurrent implementations across a global customer base

WOULD BE AN ASSET

  • Direct experience with renewable energy APM (Asset Performance Management) platforms
  • Domain depth in wind energy: meteorology, power performance, turbine reliability, or turbine operations in addition to PV
  • Experience leading complex multi-stakeholder deployments involving large datasets, integrations, and operational change management
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
  • Experience working in a workshop format and helping to translate data & requirements into actionable designs
Why This Role
  • You'll help build something new - this team doesn't exist yet, and you'll shape how it works from day one
  • Direct impact on customer outcomes - the problems you solve directly improve how renewable energy assets perform
  • Embedded with Product/Engineering - you won't be isolated in a support silo; you'll be part of the product development cycle
  • Clean energy mission - Power Factors manages over 300 GW of renewable energy assets globally; the work matters
  • Growth path - as the team scales, early hires will have opportunities to specialize, lead, and define the function
  • Real ownership from day one - you'll carry your own caseload and see the direct impact of your work on customer outcomes

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT - ENGLISH

Proficiency in English is required to support Englishspeaking customers and to collaborate with teams located outside of Quebec, as these activities represent a significant portion of the role's responsibilities
