POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electronic Engineer I performs engineering work designing, developing, testing, manufacturing, and documenting power supplies and constituent subsystems. This individual uses development techniques to analyze and validate engineering concepts. The Electronic Engineer I takes direction from lead engineers for program specific work and interacts with senior level professionals both internal and external to Advanced Energy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the testing, development, and optimization of prototype power supply subsystems including measurement sensors, AC/DC circuits, RF subsystems, logic circuits, etc.
  • Test products and subsystems using common test equipment such as vector network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, LCR meters, signal generators, dynamic loads, etc.
  • Utilize basic programming or scripting skills such as Python or MATLAB to interface with equipment and automate data collection / analysis.
  • Analyze field and manufacturing data using statistical methods to monitor manufacturing performance.
  • Diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, root cause/failure analysis, manufacturing test yields of existing RF products using formal investigation methods and to recommend/implement corrective actions to address.
  • Initiate and manage through to completion engineering changes using the ECO process.
  • Identify the engineering scope of work and plan/implement engineering related activities using project management tools.
  • Support the design and analysis of existing systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
  • Collaborate with engineering management to respond to changing priorities derived from inputs from Product Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Support, Supply Chain, Quality, Technical Service Organization, and Field Application Engineering.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Location: Fort Collins, Colorado
  • Standard office environment and R&D laboratory

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Usage of professional concepts relevant to engineering, including analytical methods, computer aided analysis and design tools, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills relevant to design, selecting appropriate components and materials for designs.
  • Broad technical knowledge of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry including but not limited to DC circuits, AC to DC converters, RF subsystems and devices, digital and analog loop stability, magnetic design, Monte Carlo circuitry analysis, and test and measurement systems.
  • Usage of strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to convey engineering information to a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical.
  • Application of company policies and procedures to solve routine to complex technical issues.• Advanced expertise in microcontroller, FPGA, or SoC-based architecture (e.g., Xilinx Zynq, ARM Cortex-M or similar platforms).

EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with basic circuit analysis, understanding of circuit schematics, and concepts of power electronics.
  • Experience working in a lab environment with standard electrical test/design equipment.
  • Working knowledge of RF engineering fundamentals, including Smith Chart usage, forward and reflected power concepts, and impedance matching / transforming circuits.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $65,000 - $90,000 per year.
