People Analytics (PA) is a small team with big scope. PA is responsible for enabling HR and Business leaders with insights to make evidence-based decisions which support the creation and execution of People and Business strategies. The team needs an individual who is creative, technical, curious, and passionate about using data to drive business results. This is a fast paced, highly rewarding role that makes an impact at TELUS through the ability to change the way we look at people data.

The Senior People Analytics Consultant will use consulting and analytical skills to deliver people analytics and insights to TELUS' Business Leaders and HR to drive people strategy and strategic workforce decisions. The job will be a combination of solving strategic problems and servicing day- to-day data requests (80/20 split).

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Lead the integration of new data sources into the analytics ecosystem, with a focus on M&A employee data, to expand capabilities and data coverage across the organization
  • Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework to establish data quality standards, privacy protocols, and ethical use guidelines for sensitive people data
  • Develop and maintain robust reporting and business intelligence solutions using visualization platforms to provide stakeholders with actionable insights
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to enhance and evolve the data infrastructure, ensuring scalability and meeting diverse data consumption needs
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to understand their challenges, translate business questions into analytical approaches, and deliver data-driven workforce strategy recommendations
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve data quality and capture additional data sources that enhance analytical capabilities and support strategic decision-making
  • Oversee and deliver critical mandatory and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Act as a steward for data privacy and governance, ensuring the ethical and compliant use of sensitive people data across all analytical workstreams
Qualifications

You're the missing piece of the puzzle

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related field, with at least 2+ years focused on people/HR analytics
  • Strong analytical and business acumen with demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven experience designing and implementing business intelligence and reporting solutions using visualization platforms (Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of the HR function and people data, or demonstrated ability to quickly acquire functional expertise
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and merging data from disparate sources
  • Proficiency with cloud-based data warehousing platforms (BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar) and SQL for data querying and manipulation
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel (lookups, complex formulas, data modeling, visualization)
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and privacy principles, particularly as they apply to sensitive HR data
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with proven ability to influence and partner effectively with leaders at all levels
  • Learning orientation and desire to stay ahead of the latest developments in the field of HR reporting, analytics and related technology
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity while being highly adaptable and flexible to changing demands

Great-to-haves

Preference will be given to candidates with some combination of the following:

  • Knowledge of statistical and data analysis tools and methods to conduct or direct analytical work
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills including experience creating compelling presentations that blend data with insights
  • Experience with data integration tools or ETL (extract, transform, load) processes for managing complex data pipelines

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Math, HR, Social Sciences, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Language - Bilingual English/French an asset

Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.) as part of this position's main responsibilities given its international scope.
