Job description

Software Asset Management (SAM) Business Analyst

Location: Remote
Duration: 2-Month Contract (40 Hours/Week)
Industry: Enterprise Information Technology

Position Overview

We are seeking a Software Asset Management (SAM) Business Analyst to support a large-scale software catalog migration and software governance initiative within a complex enterprise environment.

This position will work closely with software owners, IT asset management teams, software packaging teams, and key business stakeholders to collect, validate, and organize software deployment and licensing data. The ideal candidate will combine strong business analysis skills with experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), ServiceNow, and enterprise software lifecycle processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys stakeholder engagement, data analysis, process improvement, and driving execution across multiple teams.


Key Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, validate, and document software deployment, licensing, entitlement, ownership, and contract information.
  • Identify and engage business stakeholders and software owners to collect required software migration data.
  • Conduct interviews, working sessions, and follow-up activities to gather and validate information.
  • Perform data analysis, data cleansing, reconciliation, validation, and reporting activities.
  • Maintain and update software records across multiple systems and repositories.
  • Support software catalog migration and software lifecycle management initiatives.
  • Coordinate with software packaging, deployment, and operational support teams.
  • Configure and maintain software catalog records, workflows, approvals, deployment methods, notifications, and related configuration items.
  • Test software catalog workflows and document testing results.
  • Monitor project progress, track action items, and manage follow-up activities.
  • Create reports, dashboards, and status updates for project stakeholders.
  • Document business processes, requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to software governance and service delivery.

Required Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience in:
    • Software Asset Management (SAM)
    • IT Asset Management (ITAM)
    • Software Licensing
    • IT Service Management (ITSM)
    • Business Analysis or related disciplines
  • Experience working with ServiceNow, including:
    • Service Catalogs
    • Workflows
    • Forms
    • Testing and validation activities
  • Experience gathering requirements and documenting business processes.
  • Experience supporting project-based initiatives within enterprise IT organizations.
  • Understanding of ITIL concepts and service management practices.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data management skills.
  • Experience performing:
    • Data analysis
    • Data validation
    • Data reconciliation
    • Reporting
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro.
  • Experience supporting software catalog migrations or enterprise application onboarding initiatives.
  • Knowledge of software licensing, entitlement management, software compliance, and software deployment processes.
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards using:
    • Excel
    • Power BI
    • ServiceNow Reporting
    • Similar business intelligence tools
  • Experience supporting enterprise software governance programs.
  • Familiarity with software inventory and software lifecycle management processes.
