Analyst Director information

What is an analyst director?

An Analyst Director is a senior management professional responsible for overseeing a team of analysts within an organization. Their primary duties include guiding data analysis projects, developing strategic insights, and ensuring analytical methodologies align with business objectives. Analyst Directors often collaborate with other departments to inform decision-making and drive organizational growth. They are also responsible for mentoring their teams and ensuring the quality and accuracy of all analytical outputs.

What are some common challenges analyst directors face when leading cross-functional analytics teams?

Analyst Directors often encounter challenges in aligning diverse team members—such as data scientists, business analysts, and stakeholders—toward common objectives. Navigating differing priorities, communication styles, and technical backgrounds requires strong leadership and effective project management. Additionally, Analyst Directors must ensure that analytics initiatives are both technically sound and strategically aligned with organizational goals, often requiring them to balance short-term deliverables with long-term business impact. Fostering collaboration and maintaining stakeholder buy-in are critical components of long-term success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an analyst director, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Analyst Director, you need advanced analytical abilities, strategic thinking, leadership experience, and a relevant degree such as in business, finance, or economics. Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), data management systems, and often certifications in analytics or project management is highly valued. Exceptional communication, decision-making, and team management skills help drive effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement. These competencies are crucial for guiding analytical teams, shaping data-driven strategies, and delivering actionable insights that impact organizational success.

Job description

Selene Holdings is a multiple-lines business financial services firm with a mortgage servicing company, a loan diligence company, a title company, an insurance brokerage, and a real estate owned company. We have office locations in Dallas, TX, Jacksonville, FL, and Salt Lake City, UT. Founded in 2007 to address needs in the mortgage industry, Selene strives to provide amazing client and borrower experiences. A positive attitude coupled with proven creative thinking and actions are all attributes we seek in every one of our employees. If you want to make a difference, then Selene is the place for you!

The Director, Data Analytics & Insights is a senior-level, hands-on analytics professional responsible for transforming complex data into actionable business insights that drive operational performance, strategic decision-making, and client outcomes across Selene Finance. This individual will partner with business leaders, investors, clients, and executive stakeholders to analyze servicing and portfolio data, identify opportunities and risks, and provide recommendations that influence business strategy. This is a highly visible individual contributor role requiring a unique combination of advanced analytical capabilities, deep mortgage servicing knowledge, and strong business acumen. The successful candidate will remain actively involved in data analysis, reporting, dashboard development, and problem-solving rather than leading a team of analysts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze mortgage servicing, portfolio, and operational data to identify trends, risks, performance gaps, and business opportunities.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into actionable business recommendations that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Develop executive dashboards, reports, scorecards, presentations, and data visualizations for internal stakeholders, investors, clients, and parent company leadership.
  • Utilize advanced SQL and analytical techniques to query, validate, manipulate, and interpret large datasets.
  • Perform root cause analysis to investigate reporting discrepancies, performance variances, data anomalies, and emerging business issues.
  • Partner with technology and data teams to ensure data integrity and improve reporting capabilities.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand operational challenges, identify improvement opportunities, and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to senior leadership and external stakeholders in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
  • Support analytical initiatives across servicing operations and respond to ad hoc requests from executives, clients, investors, and business partners.
  • Manage multiple analytics projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and communicating progress to stakeholders.
  • Operate effectively in environments with ambiguity by identifying missing information, developing analytical approaches, and driving work independently.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures related to data governance, reporting, and analytics.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8+ years of analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or data management experience.
  • Advanced SQL experience, including the ability to independently query, manipulate, validate, and analyze large datasets.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL preferred.
  • Strong experience with Power BI or comparable business intelligence and data visualization platforms.
  • Direct mortgage servicing experience with a strong understanding of servicing operations, terminology, reporting, and data structures.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience developing executive dashboards, reporting packages, and analytical presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to present analytical findings and business recommendations to senior leaders, investors, clients, or other executive stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with limited direction.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Python for data analysis, automation, statistical modeling, or process improvement.
  • Experience supporting investor, client, or executive reporting functions.
  • Experience developing repeatable reporting and analytics processes that improve operational efficiency.
Benefits

Selene Finance LP is committed to the total wellbeing of its employees and therefore offers one of the best benefits packages available in the industry today, which includes:
