Job description

We have an immediate opening for an AV Commissioning Specialist / AV Field Engineer to join our Los Alamitos, CA office. This key role will be an integral part of a team dedicated to installation and service. We seek individuals with technical aptitude and a great attitude.

Primary Role

The primary role of the AV Commissioning Specialist / AV Field Engineer is setting up and commissioning audio-visual equipment for customers.  The AV Commissioning Specialist / AV Field Engineer will lead, support, and interact with technicians, programmers, and customers.

Detailed Activities

  • Perform preventative maintenance services, routine testing, and problem diagnosis of integrated systems
  • Read and interpret architectural drawings, electronic schematics, and blueprints
  • Test point-to-point functionality of systems and confirm signal flow for audio, video, and control
  • Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness of installation
  • Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting for AMX / Crestron and DSP systems
  • Field installation of control programs (AMX / Crestron) – upload and download capability
  • Write code for DSP systems
  • Make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer
  • Fine tune audio video systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Configure IP addressable devices to establish communication on a network
  • Perform client training and final job documentation as needed
  • Act as a customer liaison in absence of Project Manager
  • Create, track, and complete a project Punchlist
  • Travel to various job sites required
  • Communicate and interact with colleagues and customers in a professional and timely manner
  • Write effective business communication and reports
  • Utilize test and calibration equipment
  • Conduct user acceptance testing
  • Conduct basic programming (Crestron / AMX) changes and troubleshoot issues
  • Diagnose complex system problems
  • Configure IP networking
  • Set up workstations (PC) on systems
  • Install and integrate innovative AV technologies from manufacturers such as Barco, Biamp, Christie Digital, Crestron, Extron, Middle Atlantic, NVIDIA, Poly, Samsung, Shure, Sony and Microsoft Teams
  • Manage multiple projects while adapting to changing priorities
  • Work and think independently to ensure deadlines are met
  • Exemplify organizational skill and attention to detail
  • Ability to regularly climb and work from ladders up to heights of 35 feet; lifting equipment, tools, and materials.

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of Audiovisual systems, and working knowledge of wall/ceiling construction techniques
  • Minimum 5 years of Audio Visual Integration experience preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record

Work Hours

Normal work hours for the AV Commissioning Specialist / AV Field Engineer position are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Pay

Compensation range is $42/hr. - $54/hr. depending on experience.
