Job description

Ammunition Manufacturing Technician
Location: Lake City Army Ammunition Plant - Independence, MO
Schedule: Weeknights and weekend day/night shifts available

Salary:
  • Starting Pay: $30.18 per hour, increases up to $36.84 with training & early wage increases
    • Shift Differentials: Weeknight Shifts ($.70 per hour) and Weekend night shifts ($2.00 per hour)
  • Earn up to $95,500 annually with overtime
  • $1,500 sign-on bonus; $750 paid after 90 days and $750 after 180 days.

Ammunition Manufacturing Technician Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on high-speed automated ammunition manufacturing equipment.
  • Utilize PLC and HMI systems to monitor equipment performance, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform equipment adjustments, calibrations, and process controls to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production operations.
  • Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments, hardness testing, and other testing methods to verify product specifications.
  • Analyze production, quality, and safety issues through root cause analysis, maintain accurate operational records, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to work assigned shifts, including weekends and nights as required.
  • Experience working with mechanical equipment, manufacturing systems, maintenance operations, automotive diagnostics, or related technical fields.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, or saws is preferred.
  • Understanding of industrial control systems, automation, PLCs, or related technologies is preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to reach, bend, twist, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments.
  • Ability to to lift, carry, and push up to 400 pounds by way of team lifts and use of support device (hand carts, pallet jacks, gondolas, etc.)?
  • Must possess full vision, including color vision.

Location-Specific Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license.
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
