Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an Ammonia Supervisor for the Gulf Coast Ammonia Storage facility in Texas City, TX.
Reporting to the Ammonia Superintendent, the Ammonia Supervisor will have specific responsibilities in supporting the Ammonia Plant and will function as part of the local Leadership Team in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Texas City facility. The individual will lead a team of 10-12 Plant Operators in the operation and maintenance of the 3,600 mTon/day Ammonia Plant, 70,000 metric ton Ammonia Storage Tank and associated ammonia pipelines. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop technical proficiency across the production facility while encouraging a strong safety culture, promoting employee engagement and development, and providing leadership that recognizes and adapts to the diverse strengths, experiences, and working styles of the workforce.

Job Duties:
  • Supervise regularly scheduled activities & special projects and act to remedy any difficulties.
  • Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation, including supervising operators.
  • Leading Root Cause Investigations to resolve unplanned issues.
  • Assuring adherence to AP Operating procedures and Global Safety Standards.
  • Ensuring site's compliance with Preventative Maintenance tasks, Compliance Management tasks, Red Border action items, etc.
  • Ensure smooth running of the operation activities as it relates to managing staff, equipment, contractors, etc.
  • Accountable for direct repots' participation in the Air Products BSP (Basic Safety Program).
  • Accountable for Achieving environmental compliance targets.
  • Provide support to the West Gulf Coast Pipeline Team in managing the ammonia pipeline interface with the storage tank.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining plant budget.
  • Work with HYCO PROS (Project Resources & Outage Services) group for Projects and Turnaround Planning.
  • Approve and ensure weekly pay data is accurately entered into SAP for processing.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA PSM regulations and provide mandatory training according to Air Products procedures & policies.
  • Implement Best Practices designed to produce optimal safety and reliability of operating assets.
  • Serve as Emergency Coordinator for incidents that may arise during operation of the storage tank temporarily.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across broad range of operational, technical, and commercial areas.
  • Experience in the safe operation of refrigerated storage tank operations. Experience in ammonia, LNG, or other cryogenic liquid storage operation is desired.
  • Experience with Emergency Management as an Incident Commander is desired.
  • Experienced in management of change MOC process.
  • Self-motivated and well organized with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Desire to make a measurable positive impact to plant performance.
  • Demonstrated dedication to EH&S with a track record of success on Safety, Environmental protection, Quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • A performance history of driving continuous improvement.
  • A strong dedication to employee involvement, team building and diversity/inclusion.
  • Ability to promote respect and collaboration in the workplace.
  • Computer literacy, MS Office platform; knowledge of SAP business systems.
  • Possess or able to get TWIC card for maritime purposes.
  • Must be willing and able to provide support on a 24/7 basis via phone call, instant messaging, video conference, or, if needed, physical presence at facility.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship (e.g. temporary work visa or work permit).
