POSITION OVERVIEW

Thislive-inposition serves asacommunitybuilder for Dunwoody's Housing Program. Resident Assistants (RAs) will work each week to plan events, upkeep the community spaces, and serve as aliaisonbetween residents and the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC).In the evenings, RAs will take turns carrying an on-call phone so that students can make contact in case of emergencies.Above all else, RAs will work together to create an inclusive, engaging, and effective living environment for all Dunwoody Students.

POSITIONRESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

EventPlanning

  • Brainstorm creative events that will be interesting, helpful, and enjoyable for housing residents

  • Archive all files related to housing events

Resident Interactions

  • Work to foster an inclusive and amicable community by creating positive interactions with residents whenever possible

  • Act as a knowledgeable resource on the housing application process, housing policy, and the neighborhood of Stadium Village

  • Recognize concerning behavior in residents and relayimportant informationto the RLC so that intervention can be provided where necessary

  • Provide tours of the housing complex to potential residents and their family members, as needed

Miscellaneous Duties:

  • Assiststudent affairs staff with Resident Move-In and Orientation

  • Ability to keep student information confidential

  • Complete health and safety inspections of all residential units

  • Reportany housing policy violations orunhygienicliving situations to the RLC

  • AttendHousing Staff Meetings

  • Assist the RLC in conducting student check-outs


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work 15-20hours per week

  • Enrollin a minimum of one course at Dunwoody Technical College

  • Ability to arriveatthe housing complex within30minutes while servingon-call

  • Ability to attend staff housing meetings

  • Availabilityonevenings and weekends as needed for hosting residential events

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Creative mindset when planning events, engaging with residents, and solving problems

  • Clear communication skills that will beutilizedin event marketing and housing tours

  • A drive to be well-informed about Dunwoody and the resources it provides to students

  • An interest in socializing with current and potential residents
