The Opportunity

The successful candidate will identify and lead the delivery of projects in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)  ecosystem projects including metering and network technology, meter device data utilization, operational excellence, and consumer engagement, with a focus on implementation of programs for our water utility clients.  

Responsibilities will vary from project to project and involve client program discovery, strategy, justification, planning, implementation, testing and/or operation.  Principal Consultants define the client engagement strategy and project execution for assigned or identified projects, serve as a key-client point of contact for the engagement, and assign tasks/mentor junior team members assigned to the project team.    

Candidate will also support and in some cases lead business development activities including proposal responses and go-to market strategy for solution offerings. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Leverages existing and continues to build industry relationships to inform go to market strategy and offering development 
  • Leads a team to define and/or implement strategies and solutions related to AMI grid modernization, data analytics, and/or customer engagement 
  • Defines working relationships with team members and management from within the client's organization 
  • Develops applicable knowledge bases by using best practices to redefine tools and techniques.  Outlines specific performance measures, targets, and goals to articulate the business case for realized efficiencies or added value 
  • Implements project management capabilities including but not limited to: managing client expectations, sub-task delegation and work stream resourcing, and risk project management 
  • Leads high quality project execution, including: deliverable quality control, scope assessment/feasibility, and issue resolution 
  • Anticipates challenges, and implements strategies to minimize issues, leveraging team members skills and expertise as appropriate  
  • Builds onto existing tools and capabilities for project delivery, including: project artifacts, tools, or processes 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of market and technology trends applicable to water distribution utilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience
  • Has managed significant engagements
  • 10+ years in a business/consulting environment
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree  
  • Business development or offering development experience including sales and marketing support, and proposal development 
  • Depth and breadth of knowledge in AMI, MDM, data analytics, resource conservation, and consumer engagement. 
  • Expertise in Water utility organizations (Operations, IT, Engineering/Planning) 
  • Human relation skills that support an inclusive team environment, open to new ideas and perspectives 
  • Supportive engagement in business development activities 
  • Advanced PC literacy (e.g., Power BI, Visio, Microsoft Project, and/or advanced MS Excel skills)  
Certifications
Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.
