Job description
- Full time (40 hours per week) 11-month commitment
- Starting September 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027
- Must complete 1700 service hours and finish the terms of the commitment (all 11 months) to qualify for the education award
- Submit to a criminal history background check
- Participate in day/evening/weekend service projects, trainings, monthly meetings, retreats, and other national service events, as required, occasionally outside of regular service hours
- Driver’s license, good driving record, and access to reliable personal vehicle required, service-related mileage will be reimbursed
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- All AmeriCorps Volunteers must assist instructors in classroom supervision, mild student behavior correction, and occasionally leading/co-leading after-school lessons/activities
- Submit monthly reports measuring progress toward Project Rise goals
- Additionally, Project Rise members will periodically have the opportunity to learn about and serve in different departments within the agency. This will allow for a more extensive understanding of services extended to immigrants, as well as enable members to develop a range of skills
- A personal passion to support refugees and immigrants and a commitment to community service
- Sensitivity and respect for individuals across a wide range of cultures, ethnicities, religions, races, genders, sexual orientations, and lived experiences
- Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Word
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Adaptability and ability to work independently, multi-task, and maintain focus
- Experienced in being a positive, active member of a team in a multicultural environment
- Organizational/time management skills, ability to prioritize with attention to detail

- AmeriCorps living stipend of $21,500 for the 11 months ($895 paid every 2 weeks, pretax)
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $7,395 granted at the end of the service term after successful completion (1700 hours and all commitment requirements). This education award can be used to pay for existing or future student loans or be used to pay tuition at accredited colleges, universities, and technical schools within 7 years post-service.

- External Employment Engagement – Help with the networking and connection of employers of immigrant clients through job fairs, education, outreach, and advocacy; prepare clients for employment through applications and trainings
- Digital Literacy – Organize immigrant clients’ learning on Canvas LMS platform through one-on-one trainings, videos, coordinating volunteers, and adapting instructions; distribute and maintain tablets and laptops for clients’ education
- Women’s Success – Empower women, immigrants, and underserved families to overcome trauma, access resources, build confidence, and achieve self-sufficiency through employment, education, coaching, and personal development
- Community Resources – Assist clients with applying for and obtaining community resources such as energy assistance, food assistance, housing assistance, diaper/hygiene items, clothing, library cards, and childcare vouchers
- Workforce English Education – Assist immigrant adults with learning English skills needed for work, coordinate volunteer tutors, nurture partnerships with employers, provide job skills training, and help clients set SMART goals
- Health Services – Support clients with additional medical needs by assisting with scheduling, transportation, interpretation, and accompaniment of medical appointments, and researching health access solutions for uninsured clients
- Volunteer Engagement – Coordinate communication, placement, orientation, recruitment, training, and appreciation for volunteer and intern opportunities with New American Pathways; lead outreach/donation drive events in the community
- Newcomer Workshops – Develop, coordinate, and conduct workshops to educate immigrant adults on topics such as tenant rights, public transportation, US school systems, know your rights, taxes/financial literacy, and US healthcare system
- Civic Pathways (Alumni Engagement) – Support the leadership growth and personal development of Civic Pathways participants and alumni; coordinate mentorship opportunities, participant-led community projects, and session logistics
- Community Education – Coordinate community education workshops, storytelling panels, advocacy engagement activities, entrepreneurship/workforce-related learning opportunities, and participant-led community impact projects
- Food Security – Address client food insecurity through client intake and needs assessments, service planning with clients, sourcing and distributing food and gift cards, making referrals, building relationships with partners, and outreach events
- Immigration Services – Schedule client interviews, collect information and documents from clients, and assist already-screened applicants with completing application forms for adjustment of status and naturalization
- After-School and Summer Camp Program Development (2 positions) – Develop and manage after-school/summer camp curriculum that engages immigrant students in personal development, literacy, math, science, technology, and art
