At TC Energy, we are proud to connect the world to the energy it needs. Guided by our values of safety in every step, personal accountability, one team and active learning, we deliver the critical energy that North America and the world rely on while balancing reliability, affordability and sustainability.

The Opportunity

The Pipeline Integrity Engineering Services Stress Management Team is seeking a Pipeline Integrity Stress Engineer to join our team in Calgary. We are looking for a motivated Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with an interest in stress engineering, pipeline integrity, and fitness-for-service assessments.

In this role, you will collaborate with experienced stress engineers and subject matter experts while supporting a wide range of pipeline integrity initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to build expertise in stress and strain assessment, finite element analysis, fitness-for-service evaluations, and integrity threat management for TC Energy's natural gas pipeline assets.

You will work with stakeholders across the organization to help ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of our pipeline systems. Through technical analysis, problem-solving, and collaboration, you will contribute to critical engineering assessments that support the integrity and long-term performance of our assets.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and curious engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and applying sound engineering principles to real-world problems. You are eager to learn, communicate effectively, and thrive in both independent and team-based environments while developing a strong foundation in pipeline stress engineering and integrity management.

What you'll do

  • Support TC Energy's pipeline design, construction and integrity management program through stress engineering assessments and analysis.
  • Assist with fitness-for-service evaluations of in-service pipelines for both proactive threat management and response to operational events.
  • Support the development of remediation scopes and engineering recommendations for stress and strain-related integrity concerns.
  • Provide technical support on pipeline stress and strain issues.
  • Support pipeline incident investigations and engineering assessments as required.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering documentation for internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of engineering procedures, work processes, and business practices.
  • Contribute to data analysis, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Stress Management Team.
  • Work with senior engineers to develop analytical approaches and perform engineering assessments using commercial software.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or eligible for registration with APEGA.
  • Typically 2-7 years of relevant engineering experience in stress analysis, pipeline engineering, integrity management, or a related field.
  • Understanding of mechanics of materials, structural analysis, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis principles and engineering assessment methods.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, industry codes and standards such as CSA Z662, ASME B31.8, API 579, API 1102, and related pipeline integrity standards.
  • Experience with or exposure to engineering analysis software such as Abaqus, Ansys, AutoPIPE, or Caesar II is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of fracture mechanics, fatigue assessment, fitness-for-service methodologies, or materials engineering is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both small and large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new concepts and technologies.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within North America.

To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid
