POSITION SUMMARY

This is an independent contractor position. 

We are seeking an experienced, self-driven, and well-connected professional football scout to
oversee talent identification and player evaluation across various territories in South America. This role will be responsible for prospecting in various regions, including but not limited to Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and Colombia. As a result, this person will play a critical role in identifying elite and emerging talent aligned with the club's playing model, values, long-term recruitment strategy, and methodology.

Thus, the ideal candidate will have extensive South American regional and cultural knowledge, a vast contact network within the region, strong analytical skills, and prior football scouting experience with professional clubs. This person must also be comfortable navigating through different leagues, various competition environments, and communities.  

This role reports to the Technical Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identify and evaluate emerging and established players whose ability, playing style, and profile align with the Club's playing model and long-term recruitment strategy.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of assigned territories, including but not limited to player pipelines, academy trends, club strategies, market trends, valuations, transfer developments, and emerging opportunities.
  • Identify high-upside players and undervalued market opportunities, specifically players capable of impacting the First Team or creating long-term value, evaluating current ability, future projection, and transfer value.
  • Conduct live and video-based player assessments across technical, tactical, physical, character, mentality, professionalism, and work ethic criteria, using trusted regional contacts where appropriate.
  • Produce clear, objective, and actionable scouting reports that support recruitment decision-making and upload them to the Club's scouting platform.
  • Exercise sound judgment on the recommendation of players who perfectly align with the Club's recruitment standards.
  • Maintain a structured accurate database of player profiles, reports, and long-term tracking lists.
  • Collaborate closely with the Technical Director, Scouting department, and Analytics team on alignment of priorities and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain a trusted network of clubs, academies, agents, coaches, and regional contacts to strengthen market intelligence and opportunities for early access to talent.
  • Undertake all recruitment processes with confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism - representing the Club well in every situation.
  • Travel and attend live matches and competitions as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3-5 years' of prior experience working within professional football (soccer) scouting or recruitment. Prior experience working with a professional club is required. 
  • Must have exceptional knowledge and experience with South American football markets, player pathways, and leagues. 
  • Completion of National Football Association Talent Identification courses (or equivalent) preferred. USSF or international scouting/license certification is a plus. 
  • Must have prior experience producing structured, high-level scouting reports for stakeholders across all levels while maintaining an eye for detail.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of identifying players who have progressed to professional or elite levels preferred.
  • Familiarity with modern scouting tools, video analysis platforms, and analytics systems. Prior training or certification is a plus. 
  • Strong organizational skills, specifically the ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, humility, strong football judgment, and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Self-starter with the ability to be self-driven and work independently
  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships with peers and serve as an extension of the club. Thus, must always possess a professional demeanor with the ability to handle difficult situations in a calm manner.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, as the match  schedule requires. Ability to work across various time zones to communicate with Club staff frequently.
  • Must have a valid passport and be able to travel domestic and international as required.
  • Must be able to attend various live matches and competitions as assigned.
  • Must be proficient in English and Spanish. Portuguese is strongly preferred.
